I have been going to an ID doctor for Bicillin shots weekly. Last night I removed the bandaid that she put over the injection site and this morning I have a nasty looking rash where the bandaid was.
Is this normal at all? Maybe someone is a nurse who has seen this. I have never had it before.

Some people are allergic to latex, which is sometimes found in band-aids. Or you're just sensitive to adhesive in general.

Thank you but why would I have this reaction all of a sudden? I've been getting these shots (and band aids) for months. Can you develop an allergy and if so can Lyme cause you to develop new sensitivity?

People develop allergies after one or more exposures to something. You can be born with a tendency to develop allergies, but you aren't normally born allergic to anything specific. Most people are allergic to poison ivy. The first time a person goes into the woods, they normally don't get a poison ivy rash, but they can get it the next time they go into the woods or after several exposures. Likewise, if you have had bandaids on repeatedly, you can suddenly develop an allergy to them. I'm allergic to adhesives and latex now, but I didn't used to be. The rash can be very itchy and may last for a week or more. I hope yours goes away soon. Tell your doctor or nurse. There may be some bandages that contain a milder adhesive that is less likely to cause an allergic reaction.

I believe lyme can cause hypersensitivity.
Once I had lyme and was in treatment, many meds gave me hives. Before that, I never had hives in my life.
Do a "Search" on hives and you will see a fairly recent thread where many people said the same thing.
So, hopefully the bandaid allergy won't be permanent.
My skin has always been sensitive to bandaids, even before lyme disease. Also sensitive to wool, plants, shrubs, etc. If that sounds like you, perhaps the lyme has just put you "over the top" for reacting to things.
