Anyone ever use it - maybe with doxy - for BLO?

No, won't touch it. Must be Rifampin combined with Zith or Doxy OR a quinolone abx like Factive or Levaquin.

Myco... can you explain WHY you won't touch it? I'm hoping to start my 9 yr old on Amox. for Bart. Too worried to give her Doxy because of stomach issues, and can't afford Azith.

The comment "won't touch it" probably means that it won't touch the bartonella at all in that it is supposedly completely ineffective for this infection.

Radfaraf was correct. Not effective for the infection. I believe they use Azith on children and possibly Rifampin. Canadian pharmacies are often cheaper.

IckyTicky, they rarely prescribe doxy for early or pre-teens because of side effects. I don't remember them all, but staining the teeth brown was one of them.
Given that doxycycline is one and is known not to kill some of the BLO's I guess it's reasonable that amoxicillin would also fail. I guess it depends on the particular strain of bartonella your daughter has - amoxicillin should kill some types of it.

How old is your daughter? My daughter is 15 and she was on Rifampin and Zith for Bart.

I seriously doubt amoxy will do anything for bart. It doesn't even work for Lyme in most cases.

Well I know that Amox was the first abx I was on and I herxed really hard for a couple days. Don't know what it hit, but it hit something.
My daughter is 9. From what I've read they don't give it to children under 8 because of the teeth staining... don't know why age would have anything to do with it though.
If Amox won't cut it for her, then I'll have no choice but to give her Doxy.

Im on amox but for lyme its hitting me my joints majorly ache with in a hour of taking it. Maybe its just each persons make up. But whether it does bart i have no clue.

Do you live near a Costco? You don't have to be a member to use the pharmacy. Just tell them at the door you are going to pharmacy.
Get a quote of the price of azith from them, and ask for them in z-packs. They can order it if they don't have it in.
I don't know why, but getting azith in the z-packs is less expensive, and Costco was about half the price compared to other pharmacy...

Because azith is so expensive, you don't have to be flat broke to get help...

Bactrim DS works for some strains of Bart, and I believe children can take that.
Children can also take Rifampin, I am pretty sure.
Rifampin isn't supposed to be taken without something else for Bart, so hopefully combining it with Bactrim would be good enough. Sometimes it is prescribed with Minocycline, so you could check if Mino is safe for kids.
About Amoxicillin, it won't treat Bartonella, but it is a good Lyme drug. I herxed hard on it, and it helped me more than anything else for Lyme, except Bicillin. Amoxicillin will hit the form of Lyme with the cell wall, the same form Rocephin hits. Amox seems to be a hit or miss drug for people.
