I had enough blood drawn recently to keep the entire vampire cast of Twilight full and happy for at least a month.

One of the tests was to measure leptin levels. When I first became ill I lost 155 pounds in 14 months without trying.

I maintained the weight loss +/- 15 pounds until I went on IVs. Since then my weight has gone up up and away.

Normal leptin ranges are apparently something like 5-30. Mine was over 100. In fact they didn't even give a number. They just said greater than 100. When I told my regular Dr's nurse the results her response was, "How are you not eating everything in sight with levels like that?" Very comforting.

Ironically the word leptin in it's original language means "thin"

I've looked up some info on leptin on the internet and the basic lyme diet plus eating lots of fish would seem like it would lower the levels. Anyone else out there have test results like this and been able to lower the levels?

coltman - does where I got this test make a big difference? I know some test are better to do through different labs but I've never heard of this one being on that list. Thanks

No. I was asking because I wanted get leptin levels and nobody knew where to do it and what is test code for it (except one proprietary extensive lab).

Let me look back on my paperwork to see if I can find a labcode for you. I remember that it took them two times and two labs before they figured out the right code for me.
