i wanted to ask how long did u treat bartonella until u got rid off it?!
i have henseale for sure and i think BLO.. treating with tavanic and bactrim ds.
im now on my 3rd month and im better, but i thought it will improve faster?!
burrascano says 1 month minimum and then something about 4 months or longer.. ?!

I am still being treated and I think a lot of people are, so that is why no one has responded about how long it takes to cure it. My LLMD told me Levaquin could wipe it out in three months but Rifampin takes longer. I was on Levaquin 5 weeks then could not tolerate it or any abx and went on herbs for 8 months. I have been on Rifampin for 3 months. As there is not much improvment I think it will be a long time from now before I am completely well.

I treated it for about 9 months initially. Then, I had a symptom flare-up from the seasonal flu vaccine and am re-treating. This time, it took less than 2 weeks for my symptoms to go away, but I'll probably keep treating for another 2 months, or so just to be sure it's gone again.
I think it depends on how high of a load you have.

I treated 2 times so far. First for 8 months with Rif/Zith combo and then again with the same after I took a break and relapsed. I am still in tx after 8 months but switched to pulsed Factive to hopefully finish this time!

I only treated for 3 months rifampin/ceftin and most of the symptoms went away. Stopped early (mistake) and it came back in two weeks, trying a different combo. Bart is pure evil when it comes back, going to zap it this time I'm sure.

my symptoms are very much bart too: fatigue like flu, heel pain, sometimes chills and headache. my GP treated for lyme with IV ceftriaxin. I had only 6 days of treatment (as my insurance said they wouldn't cover due to no positive blood test) but I've been feeling great - no more fatigue! can ceftriaxin get rid of bart?

rid off not, because barts are intracellular, and ceft isnt working intracellular, but it can supress it, i had the same effect, but only for 1 day

Generally Levaquin will kill off bart within three months. After trying Rifampin and Bactrim, I switched to Levaquin and did the full three months.
About six months later, my bart symptoms returned.
So now I'm doing Cipro for at least three months, maybe more.

CD57, do you mean 3-7 months or 3-7 times after stopping treatment? I agree that is much worse when it comes back - so much harder to get rid of, so it is a very good idea to be absolutely sure it is gone before you quit abx.

Treated my Bart for 14 months until I reached remission.
Enjoyed almost 8 months of no Bart symptoms and now getting some odd symptoms back that are not necessarily bart (could be lyme), but needless to say back on abx.

My daughter has been treating Bart w/Rifampin and Zith for close to 7 months now, and her Bart rash is only now possibly starting to fade--it is hard to tell for sure, but I think so.
She had a huge improvement though in her fatigue within 6 weeks of starting the Rifampin.

Well since everyone is sharing how they "didn't" get rid of it...I'll share.
First, I did 3 months of rifampin and zith and never got totally well.
I did 2 weeks plus 9 days of IM gentamicin with 28 days of doxy and it's not gone. I never got to 100% with this either.
I also did 2.5 months of bactrim and rifampin and got 100% well. Three weeks after stopping the symptoms came back, as did a case of C diff. Now my treatment options are limited.
I wish I could get on rifampin and septra and take them for like two years.

Please tell me that SOMEONE out there has gotten rid of this coinfection. What about people like WildCondor or Dr. B. that have recovered? Did they have bart? Maybe those with bart can never get rid of it? I sure hope not!

My LLMD treated my lyme/bart with about a year of Doryx.
I was in remission for almost 9 months. I flared up this past March.
I was on Doryx at first, but was switched to Cefprozil.
After getting 2nd opinion, I am now supposed to take Ceftin/Bactrim DS. Not sure for how long.
Blinkie mentioned that options are now limited. Does this mean that once you try one drug treatment, you can never go back to it later?
Will it no longer be effective?

Seems I have read that once you find a drug or combo that knocks it down and you feel well you should continue it several months to give it the final 1-2 knockout. Of course everyones immune system is different so what works for one may not for another.
