Does anyone know how long or how fast someone can get sepsis from bacteria getting into an I.V. line? Weeks, days, or minutes? My wife is currently on I.V. rocephin and I'm worried about this.

I got sepsis after having it in about 5 days. I was probably infected when they put it in but that is when it showed up. It came on like a ton of bricks though.

Bacteria into sepsis is about 24 to 48 hours. My son had two line infections; that's what we were told in the ER.
