two nights ago i was sleeply soundly when all of a sudden i got a horrible stabbing sensation in what i thought was my left eye. it was like someone stabbed me with a knife. i mean it HURT!!

so i wake up and look at my left eye. whoa!!! half of the eye from the nose to the middle is dark red. sort of like broken veins.

the vision is ok, but the eye itself hurts, well really my forehead hurts to down to the cheekbone.

i keep checking my vision and no changes.

maybe i'm reading too much, cause lately i've read several books a day.

anybody get this? i used eye drops and they really burn.

Stabbing pain is common with LD.

I have had several different types of eye pain. I have had the stabbing pain a few times; but then I have also had a sore type pain where my eyes just plain hurt and I have light sensitivity. I also have burning eyes that turn very red and feel very dry.

I think all of these types of eye pain can be common with LD. If you have light sensitivity with eye pain, that can be a migraine.

Hi RB,

This past spring and summer was having the same problems - searing pain in my right eye off and on (I used to describe it as if someone was trying to dig my eyeball out with a spoon) - with that eye pain I too would have a streak across the eyeball from my nose to the center of my eye, that as you mentioned, looked like broken veins.

Interesting that you see something similar...

I also had some light sensitivity in that eye at the same time - My vision always checked out fine, but I had a halo-like feeling in that eye (where everything seemed somewhat blurry and darker in my peripheral region).

Advil helped with the pain but usually had to wait for it to go away on its own - lasted for maybe 4-5 days and then came back every 3-4 weeks.

Also interesting was that although it was my right eye that was bothering me, the host of neuro problems seemed to be more severe on my left side - do you see anything like that?

On the good side of things, with ongoing treatment (on Abx since this summer) this has mostly gone away so am thankful for that.

K

I have dry eyes and have a stabbing pain but not like you describe which seems to point to a broken blood vessel. Have you checked the side effects of whatever abx you are using? When I started rifampin and zithro I had a blood vessel break in my leg, which is a side effect.

I'm still waiting to see a LLMD but i'm 100% sure i do have LD. Was infected this August i believe. Beggining of december i started to get bad eye pain and blurry vision. For about two weeks i would wake up every morning with red blotches in both eyes like they had broken blood vessels.

<<<<< RAndibearSis' >>>>>'

I get the pain, sudden and stabbing,in the right eye,but rarely the broken blood vessel.

TxC' said if it doesn't ease right quick, check in w/ an Opthamologist,please...!!!

Lyme can do so much damage ...and it is better to be safe than sorry!!!

Love from Silverwolfi-Sis'

Eye pain & other visual issues was a HUGE problem for my young son....

It sounds like an ocular migraine. I lived with this type of pain until I kicked babs and bart....not fun.

We had a big thread on mangosteen recently. We're all different as to whether it helps our eyes.

For me, it ended eye muscle pain - I wouldn't call mine stabbing, however - more like it was aching.

Randibear I would bet good money you have toxoplasmosis with your lyme. The shoulder pains

and eye problems point to that direction. My spine rash says it too. As it is described in literature

of all three and is becomeing more common finding in lyme. I know the tests are as bad considering

they have to look like they look for lyme, but it has specific treatments that may help.

Pinelady,

At the end of the day if you treat Lyme can't these eye problems correct themselves like everything else?

May be cane, but toxo can be a hard bugger to get

rid of too. It can take months. But I think if you

suspect it-it could be targeted better.

I also think Toxo, there is a rife frequency.
I also have the shoulder pain. Is is typical for toxo?

You need to go to the doctor. Don't mess around with
your eyes. A doctor needs to see them especially
with the symptoms of redness and pressure that
you are describing. Please go to your eye doctor. They can see things we cannot.
PLEASE go to the doctor.

Shoulder pains, eye, and spine rash all point to

toxo. It is a known co infection of lyme. Many go

undiagnosed because the tests are as bad as Lyme

tests. Esp. if you have Lyme too.

Dx is subconjunctival Hemorrhage

Not uncommon in the general population

benign....no treatment.

Can be caused by blood thinners (like suppliments) but not necessarily Bb related.
