I have not had a herx in over 3 months, so hoping lyme was gone. I do think I have bart. I started doxy 4 days ago and am definitely having a herx.

Could doxy hit bartonella at all?

Yes, it is traditionally the treatment for Cat Scratch Disease caused by Bartonella henselae.

From my experience it is not the drug of choice
for Bartonella. Most LLMD's use Levaquin or Rifampin in combination with another abx. I have seen Doxcy combined with Rifampin for Bart.
But IMO it is a waste as Rifampin lowers Doxcy
effectiveness by 40%. Doxcy is generally used to
target Lyme.

Also azithromycin and Rifampin for Bartonella.

I was just curious if doxy could hit bart because of the herx I am having. I will be starting rifampin tomorrow.

Thanks!

Good to hear!

Doxy will kill some strains of bart. I read that it's good for cat scratch as infected by a cat.

There are other BLO's that doxy will suppress without killing. It's useful for that, but as pointed out there are better drugs for most tick borne strains.

Bart herxes from doxy are quite believable.

It seems possible to me.

I was on Doxy over the summer, and after several months started getting heel/shin pain. I then tested positive for Bartonella henselae (and possibly quintana too).

So I suppose it could cause a herx or worsening of symptoms.

Lymemd on his blog talks about doxy having some action against bart.

B4Lyme

Yes. Especially the strain B.Quintana,to a lessor effect B.Henselae (cat scratch disease) which I swear Biaxin is the answer since I have beat it twice. Original illness then re-infected by a brutal cat bite.

Doxy is an awesome drug, hitting Lyme and most all co-infections even Babesia to some degree.

Too bad I can't tolerate the tiniest dose.

I also believe Doxy is a great drug. And I think it definetly hits lyme and bart and other co's such as mycoplasmas.

Not sure how much it hits babs, but like lymebytes said, maybe to some degree.
