This may seem silly, but I do love my coffee with splenda. I know it's horrible for me, but I am having a hard time NOT putting it in my coffee.

I have yeast, about to start Diflucan, but I want to know if it's possible to beat the yeast if I have Splenda.

Do I have to 100% follow a yeast-free diet if I want to get rid of the yeast?

Thanks - julie

Short answer - YES - you have to do it all the way. Go get some Stevia and use that instead.

I don't know if there is any way to be sure. So I'd look at it like this. If you go through a length of time and possible misery treating yeast, and you aren't better, will you then second guess yourself about what you could've done better and is that why you didn't get better... The "what ifs" after the fact can be crazymaking and make the whole process of healing more confusing and frustrating not to mention lengthier.

I am using stevia too. And I thank you for posting this question because reading what I've written - it would do me good to follow my own advice! I blew it yesterday when someone invited me to have some of their dessert. It was soooo good. But it negates my efforts at beating yeast. Sigh.

Most LLMDs advise total avoidance of all artificial sweeteners.

From a plant source, Stevia really is the best way - pure stevia (not Truvia as that is not pure stevia at all).

Trader Joe's has a nice powered stevia. SweetLeaf also makes various kinds. Buy only small amount and try a couple brands. Some can taste kind of odd if you get too much.

Trader Joe's tastes the best to me. It's $10. for a little round canister that would last about 2 months if you use it 4-6 times a day in tea or frozen berries, etc.

You might also try some varieties of GREEN TEA and WHITE TEA.
Lower in caffeine and they help us rather than cause some of the challenges as coffee.

Splenda is really bad stuff, stay away from it just use sugar if you need it or stevia.

I think Splenda is very bad for the Lyme patients' compromised immune system. MO

Splenda is also a contributor to the fibromyalgia symptoms. Get rid of all sweeteners.
I was hooked on artificial sweeteners, so I understand.

Dr Mercola on his website has much good info and research on this topic.

You can get off and your body will adapt to no sweeteners in your coffe and tea. I have done it so you can too. I am detoxing much better now that I am off of it and sugar!

xylitol, a natural sweetener, is also an option, just a little, and it actually kills yeast

Stevia... stevia, stevia

Xylitol is OK if you like it. I had to use 3 packets to equal one of stevia.

I use stevia or once in a while pure sugar. Never, ever use splenda or any of the other artificial sweetners!

They are right about Stevia but you should actually give up coffee altogether. Coffee is not allowed on the anti-candida diet.
