I have been on Bicillin for a little over 2 months now (1.2ml 2x week). The shots have been going fine except for the occassional bruise.

But 2 weeks ago I had a near syncope episode THE DAY AFTER THE SHOT. Didn't feel weak but suddenly everything started to "fade out" at the grocery store. I made it home, but looked very pale.

I have been feeling so good that I have been out for dinner a few nights a week and even drinking a few glasses of wine.

However, Friday night after going to dinner I went to bed and felt nauseous. Yesterday I felt nauseous after dinner and when I went to bed. I look a little pale, and feel like something is "off" like I have a virus. Nausea, pallor, moments of weakness and flu like symptoms. Bowel movements have been slow also. I am taking probiotics and Sacchromyces (Jarrow).

I am due for another shot tomorrow and am a bit apprehensive.

The scary thing is, is that I am supposed to start Doxy for RMSF and I am afraid that is only going to make things worse.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for any feedback. Would love to hear from other Bicillin users who herx. Seems like most have no problems.

A touch of the flu maybe?

Or a herx!! [confused]

I took doxy for about six months while on bicillin without a problem.

Let us know how you do. [group hug]

Bicillin did not cause or increase nausea for me. This is one symptom that I struggle with almost constantly.

Makes me wonder if maybe you ate something that didn't agree with you. It might also be from your bowels moving "slower" than normal.

You could try drinking some lemon water for detox. It can help get rid of that fluey feeling sometimes. Also, just make sure that you are drinking enough water in general. Being dehydrated will make you feel crummy too.

I do feel slightly panicky, nauseous, viral. Especially when I left the house to get food a few times today.

I did a search and some patients did have nausea but not alot of them. Many did report bad herxes though. I guess I will have to wait and see.

Supposed to a get my shot tomorrow. I may hold off a few days until this passes. Hopefully it will.

I feel lousy two days after my shot....nausea, headache, flu like feeling. I can hardly eat or get out of bed. The fresh lemon juice (with water, ice and Splenda) helps a lot, however. I also take milk thistle and probiotics.

I rely on protein shakes (protein powder from Trader Joe's mixed with plain yogurt, frozen strawberries, a little orange juice and ice cubes...all run through the blender). One shake lasts me most of the day. It has vitamins and fiber in it as well as 46+ g. protein.

Thanks Farraday. I bet we have the same LLMD. Are you taking orals along with Bicillin? Just trying to get an idea of others who might be getting nausea and are only on Bicillin at the moment.

I've had horrible nausea with many meds, but never with Bicillin. Since this only started recently, after being on Bicillin for a while, I'd guess at another culprit.

But, yes, doxy can definitely make you nauseated. Be sure to eat something with it! My husband can get away with a small snack with 400mg doxy (!) in the AM. I have to have a full meal to cushion the doxy.

I would not feel safe unless I was also taking something to prevent yeast orally.

Not on Doxy yet. Already taking plenty of probiotics.

I seem to be waking past few days at sunrise with slight nausea around belly and viral feeling. Sometimes slightly sweaty but not soaked like babs sweats. Feels like a virus, but I remember having this happen when I first got sick.

Strange. Don' know if it is a herx or a virus.

I was extremely nauseated on Doxy and had to stop it. I, too, get the sweats....even when I am cold. After a shower I sweat for about an hour. I think it may be a way of detoxing.

Mornings are the worst for me. Fortunately I sleep through most of them!

I am not on Doxy, only Bicillin.

If you want to get your bowels moving naturally take Magnesium. I prefer Magnesium Citrate powder form (at Iherb.com) and/or vitamin C..both will work and both can be taken daily they are water soluble vitamins so they are in and out of you daily. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water everyday to flush your system too, 1/2 your weight in ounces (i.e., 150 lbs = 75 oz per day).

I have been on Bicillin a couple of times for a few months at a stretch, herxing normally really kicked up in month 2 for me. Your symptoms sound like herxing. Although, alcohol, even wine in small amounts will make a person w/Lyme "react" differently, feel more sick generally. Also, it isn't a good mix w/abx.

For relief of nausea Papaya chewable tablets work well and so does ginger root.

Take care.

Thanks. Seeing a lyme literate GI Dr. tomorrow just to make sure. Have not had GI symptoms like this in A LONG TIME. One minute I felt find today and then a few hours later I felt like I was going to lose my cookies.

Will hold on my weekly shot until I get some labs done. Thanks for the Papaya and ginger recommendation.

"Pill Curing" a blend of Chinese herbs has stopped nausea in its tracks. Not related to abx, but when something hits me, within a minute, this settles it down.

Ginger, as suggested, can be very good. Tea is generally not strong enough. Capsules offer a far better dose.

It has literally stopped the "tossing of cookies" in their tracks. A cold wet cloth to the back of the neck and side neck arteries is helpful, too.

Be sure you have some complex carbs working for you in your system. If inner ear is related at all to this, and it could be that the Bicillin is sending some sort of reaction to your ears, if you don't have a steady blood sugar, your blood sugar could take a fast dive, causing nausea and even a drop in blood pressure.

The Saccharomyces from Jarrow slowed my GI down a lot, and gave me GI pain. I had to stop it, the symptoms were so bad. I only made it like a week on that, max.

Finally concluded that supplement was just not right for me. So I just take lots of high quality probiotics instead.

Maybe the nausea could be due to the Saccharo too?

Thats possible. I will stop the saccharomyces and see what happens!
