i wanted to ask u, which abx is better to treat borrelia and bartonella. i read that many here take the cipro instead of the levo.. i would like to know why?! is cipro effective against bartonella as levo is?
i have found a site where is posted that the MHC of cipro is 2mg/l against borrelia.. the MHC of levo is 4mg/l.. so cipro could be more effective against borrelia then levo ?!

I guess it depends on who you ask, Daniel. I know the LymeMD (the doctor who keeps a blog over here) favors Cipro slightly.
I'm not sure why Cipro would be favored unless there is a lesser chance of sides with it.

Ditto to Lymetoo. I was told that both medications are only for Bartonella.
With that said, I have been on both at different times.
They are in the same family so work in similar ways, but as with any of these drugs, what one patient responds to, the next may not and visa versa.
I would try the one your doctor prescribes, keeping in mind to be aware of any tendon problems and make sure those are reported to your doctor.

Right, my LLMD said that they don't treat Lyme. Levaquin is supposed to be stronger than Cipro, and that was my experience in taking them both.

actually i am taking 2xbactrim ds+levofloxacin 500mg+minocycline 200mg a day... is it a good combo to get rid off brain fog (borrelia and bartonella)?? i read that tetracycline itself is a stronger abx then mino.. would like to try it too..

Daniel, I've not heard that tetra was stronger than mino - where did you hear that?
What I am sure of is that doxy penetrates 5 times better than tetra, and mino twice as well as doxy.
The doses vary a lot; standard "light" doses of tetra are 1000 mg/day, for doxy it's more like 200, and mino half that at 100.
Tetracycline seemed easier on my system than doxy, but whatever I have gave me a nasty brain fog with tetra that's mostly cleared up with doxy.
lymemd says doxy is somewhat effective against bart, and mino somewhat more. That combo you're on sounds very effective to me.

I tolerate Cipro more than Levaquin. and I feel better on Cipro.
