i had a bottle of critical care that was accidentally left on the counter.

it's supposed to be refrigerated.

so question -- if probiotics are left out and they say to refrigerate can you still take them? will they make you sick?

are over the counter ones that you leave out as effective as refrigerated ones?

Leaving your probiotics out at room temp for one night will probably not harm them. You can always call the manufacturer to double check.

If anything the potency might be slightly lower if actually kept at room temp for an extended period of time (like days to weeks). But it shouldn't make you sick if you take them.

probiotics with live cultures will usually die with intense heat. keeping them in the fridge or freezer helps to keep them from spoiling.

they will not make you sick, but they can become worthless. it probably depends on how long they were left out. if your candida becomes unruly, it could be because your probiotics are not effective.

there are some good non-refrigerated brands, one of which is recommend by Dr. B, called Prescript Assist Pro (soil based).

most high potency probiotics are 'live cultures' and should be refrigerated. high number of strains and high culture count is a good gauge of how potent they are. (eg. 10 strains/50 billion live)

personally, i feel the live cultures are the best ones to take.
