My eyes are really dry and lids are swollen at night.
I have cataracts but it seems my vision is deteriorating faster than I would like, or think it should.
I am getting better in some other ways. Caprasite (parasite treatment) is getting rid of gas and most bloating - happy about that!
Has anyone had a similar eye experience?

Of course, an eye exam is needed because we don't want to wait and see in this case, because we may no longer see.
That said... dry eyes are a very common problem in those with chronic Lyme disease. Sorry you are having that problem. I use Optive that my eye specialist ordered.
There are other kinds that have a thicker base (oily feeling) but they make it seem like I am seeing through a glob of mayonnaise when I use them. Here is a quote from the article "Lyme Time You Knew" just to give you an idea of some of the more common eye problems associated with Lyme.
"Some Lyme patients are diagnosed by their eye care professionals and have been documented as suffering from one or more of the following disorders:
conjunctivitis, ocular myalgias, keratitis, episcleritis, optic neuritis, pars planitis, uveitis, iritis, transient or permanent blindness, iritis, photophobia, temporal arteritis, vitritis, Horner's syndrome, ocular myasthenia gravis, and Argyll-Robertson pupil.
Often eye problems require a changing of prescription glasses more often than normal."

My vision has changed rapidly. I have needed a prescription for about 15 years. Over my last two yearly exams, my precrip has changed greatly both times, after not changing for 13 years. Maybe it's age catching up with me, I don't know. I also see spots and "floaters" a great deal of the time. I also have vertigo. I don't know if that is vision related. I was parked in a space the other day. The car beside mine started to move, triggered maybe the worst vertigo spell I've had yet. I honestly didn't know where I was for a minute or so. Scared the bejesus out of me.

Several months ago I noticed a big change in my vision. Was worried enough to see the eye doctor three times in four months. He's not lyme literate but was open to learning about it.
Anyway, as Tincup said, dry eyes are common for those of us who have lyme disease. My eye doctor put these paper strips under by bottom eye lids for five minutes to test my eyes.. He said my eyes were the driest eyes he's ever seen.
He gave me some goop to use at night before you go to bed but I don't like using it because it's like putting vaseline in your eyes. He also recommended I use Refresh Plus Lubricant Eye Drops with no preservatives. Those are individually wrapped packets with about five or six drops of eye drops in them. Best to get preservative free.
Since I've been taking these drops, and drinking mangosteen juice in the mornings, I've noticed less problems with eye blurriness. Not sure if the mangosteen juice is helping, or if it's just the eye drops, or both, but whatever it is I'm doing better now.
Hope you find some answers for your eyes.

I also have dry mouth; both symptoms are way worse at night (which is why i am writing this now!!!
Sounds like what I really need is to treat the lyme. I am on herbs from a nurse practitioner which are helping. Parasite treatment has definitely helped my digestive system!!! Am now starting to treat for yeast with Agri Plus and will start samento and cumanda as soon as I can toerate Agri Plus.
I looked up Sjogren;s disease which is caused by auto-immune diseases and includes dry mouth also. I have increasing gum disease too, but not too bad yet. I have heard abx helps with this.
Does anyone know why these symptoms bothers me so much at night, but not during the day?

Forgot to mention that I am taking vitamin A (food carotine), bilberry plex, and Lutein.
Also vitamin C, D (5000) coral calcium, magnesium malate, carraflex, parsley, burbur, evtox(for epstein-barr), Energy Boost, aloe vera, Bio Assimilation .(digestive enzymes), probiotics, Omega 3-6-9.
I'm not too bothered during the day, but after I have been asleep at night for a few hours, the dry mouth, eyes and slightly nauseous stomach wake me up.
Drinking water helps the stomach; makes me wonder if a sick stomach is causing the dry mouth and eyes.

Yep, having more issues with blurriness, and I'm definitely losing vision in my left eye (the already bad one).
Eye doc says talk to my LLMD, LLMD says talk to my eye doc. Lots of help all around here.
Taking mangosteen, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Lyme gave me very dry eye and very dry mouth. I had trouble going to sleep at night due to the dry mouth. You feel like you are dying of thirst in a desert.
I had to be treated by eye doc for dry eye and by dentist for dry mouth.
Ultimately, good lyme treatment got rid of these conditions. First I had lousy lyme treatment for a few years. It helped me, but it did not get rid of these 2 problems.
What helped my dry mouth the most at night was going to bed with a sugar-free hard candy in my mouth.
All day long, I sipped on water. I carried water with me everywhere I went. This is very common for lymies to do. Otherwise, the dry mouth bothers you. So, we lug around our water.
At night, you can't keep sipping on water, so you suffer. The hard candy sort of takes the place of sipping water.
Wish you the best. I recommend you find the very best lyme doctor you can and get rid of this disease.
It has now been 5 years since I completed my lyme treatment and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life. I went to a doc who followed the Burrascano protocol, and that is how I finally got well.
First 2 lyme docs I had did not follow this protocol, and so I did not get rid of my diseases (lyme, babs, and bart).

I seem to have the same Issues. I found out I had Lyme because I wnet from perfect vision to almost none in my left eye in 2 weeks. I got lucky as the eye doc found they Lyme. Vision came back almost to 20/20 while taking rocephin and the dry mouth and eyes went away too. However, since being off of it they symptoms came back but not as severe. I am now waiting to see an LLMD to see how to continue treatment

f13,starfall,TF, pjt95, thank you so much for replying. It is great to know that it is LYME AND CO. and curable, and not just some weird isolated problem.
It is worse in my left eye also, but only blurry if I take off my glasses.
TF, it's wonderful to hear you are well!! Thanks for the encouraging words. I was on Doxy and tried other abx but have had a hard time tolerating them.
I am much better after parasite meds,and am trying to get rid of yeast and build up my immune system so that I can start back on abx. I am looking for a good LLMD; I will have to go out of state when I go to see an LLMD again.
pjt95, Glad to hear rocephin helped you!! It has helped my daughter's kids. Best of luck with your continued treatment. I will try to start Rocephin asap.

Yep same problem here. It started a few years back i developed keratitis on my eyes but doc said it was from contact lenses, after not being able to wear contacts i had the lasik eye surgery for 2 years had 20/15 vision and then all at once my right eye started loosing vision to 20/40 and started to see floaters. extreme dry eye. i use restatsis eye drops twice a day as well as soothe xp 4 times a day. i also have had to have permanent tear duct plugs in my eyes to keep the moisture in. Yes, my then 5 year old began having hallucinations, which changed to periods of complete vision loss at age 6. That is when we sought out an LLMD....
His eyes cleared almost immediately after starting treatment. He just stopped treatment about a week ago and is complaining his "eyes feel weird"....
