So today is day 6 on IV Rocephin and I've been feeling so nauseated! Haven't thrown up yet, but at times dry heave. I've also been getting headaches almost every day since starting the Rocephin. Also more fatigued, and achy.

Are these common side effects of Rocephin? What can I do do help with the nausea? I can't stand to lose anymore weight.

Thanks.

Make sure you are on Actigall! You have to protect your gallbladder.

Slow the drip down too.

The rest sounds like a herx but inform your doctor regardless.

There are anti-nausea drugs that can help you through treatment.

WC,
I asked my nurse today about the Actigall and antinausea drugs and she is talking to the dr. What would the symptoms of a messed up gallbladder be?

Right now the drip is slow... about an hour infusion daily.

Is the headache herx or side effect?

I've been on rocephin since last Aug. Nausea for about 2 days only, no headaches. Really no herxing. Had a slight improvement till I had to go on flagyl, still haven't gotten back to where I was.

I do not remember having a problem with side effects when I started Rocephin. After about a month of being on the medication I did have a very emotional type herx. I cried alot for a couple days.

I lost my gallbladder due to rocephin 5 years ago. I thought it was my treatment for life to get me in remission, so I gladly took it out. Life had other plans, guess my body got used to it and had to find other treatment other than iv.

Why cant' you take Actigall, your body doesn't tolerate it?

I would recommend caution here: call your doctor, tell him/her what your symptoms are, and ask what you should do. Also, I would recommend doing a Liver/Gallbladder Flush, and doing that monthly, if you stay in it.

My gallbladder was wrecked by rocephin, which is too bad, because it really helped me. I still haven't had it out; I've been battling to keep it. But it's been a battle royal with a ton of pain and nausea and lots of weight loss.

But the take home here is: don't just think that you should take it. Rocephin wrecking your gallbladder can be terrible. Sadly.

I took started having gallbladder problems after about 2 months on Rocephin, but testing showed that it had been inflamed and irritated for a long time.

I fought SO hard to keep mine, endured many attacks, etc. But then I had an attack that just wouldn't stop and I had to go to the ER and they took it out that day.

There are gallbladder flushes that you can do to clear it out, I would seriously suggest you look at that!! I have REALLY regretted having my gallbladder taken out and wish I had tried more things to try to detox it and clear it out.

I hope you find relief!!

Be VERY careful on this! I did IV Rocephin just for a month before having serious gallbladder problems. Even though I knew it was probably related, I stayed on it. I not only lost my gallbladder, but continue to have serious liver problems. If you start having gallbladder issues, I would strongly consider changing treatments! Don't play around with that stuff. Good luck!
