My LLMD is not too concerned about my upcoming cataract surgery. But ten years ago, when I was treated for lyme iritis (in the left eye only), they had to use prednisone drops. Within days, the vibrations I'd had only on the left side of my face, moved to the right side as well.

Prednisone is what I will have to use after the surgery. I am on Ketek and tindamax, and still having some symptoms after all these years, and just wondered if anyone has had cataract surgery with no problems from the prednisone drops?

I don't think there is an alternative, and my neuro opthamologist, familiar with lyme, will be doing the surgery, but I am still a bit concerned.

Thanks.

Ann

Were you on abx the last time?

I had cataract surgery in both eyes in December of 2008. I don't remember any symptoms from the drops.

I recently threw out some old meds otherwise I could check to see what I was using.

I was so desperate to be able to see again that I either didn't read (or couldn't read) the info on the drops or they were called by another name. I would have questioned Prednisone also.

Wish I could be of more help!

Actually, I can't remember whether I was on abx the first prednisone. However, it was before my first LLMD, so it would have been low dose doxy if I had been on abx.

The drops I am supposed to use three days before are not prednisone, they are Nevanac, a NSAID, which should be OK. The prednisone is after the surgery, I think they said for a week.

Thanks!

I asked my opthamologist why I would have only had the left side cataract, and he said it could have been from the prednisone I had to use for the iritis. Also, back then I didn't know to wear sun glasses all the time in the sun, especially with high dose doxy later on.
