My LLMD wants to add Plaquenil 200mg starting next week (once a day, then twice a day after 1 week).
I just ordered Allergy Research Group Artemisinin, and it should be here on Thursday. I plan on pulsing this around my severe-sick cycles (like TF did), which seem to be flaring around every 2 weeks.
Any thoughts on my treatment protocol, my test results, or pulsing Artemisinin? Also, I had discussed using Bactrim DS, but we decided to go with Plaquenil today. I didn't really have an argument for either one, but I would like to hear from anyone who thinks that adding Bactrim would be better than Plaquenil for me.

I would think you should be on Mepron as well to treat babesia...

i posted yesterday about my second LLMD visit...very similar to yours...
previous positive WB bands 23 39 and 41 now only band 41 present.....
also positive for babesia duncani (wa1).....cd57 28.....also suspects Bart....
I am on mepron, zithromax, bactrim DS, artemisinin, glutathione, plus supplements.....
Bactrim was the new one started as was on omnicef but she felt bactrim was better for me......but I thought mepron was a must for Babesia......especially if you got a positive testalthough yours was IGg positive so dont know if that makes the difference......

Mepron was brought up, but it seems like it's a back-up to Plaquenil or Bactrim. I will keep that in mind.
Florence, what do you mean about my test being IgG positive? Could you elaborate?
How is your treatment going Florence? Do you feel like you've seen major improvements?
My vision stuff has cleared massively in only 2 months, and with low-dose ABX.

well from what I understand and from the igenex result sheet.....IGM positive shows active infection....IGg as past infection....or infection with less titers......someone else may chime in on that incase I am wrong....
my llmd had suspected babesia so started mepron zith about 4 weeks ago.....slight improvement in memory word finding etc etc but nothing more...
then saw my LLMD this week and had the positive result so at least on the right road.....my trough mepron level was only 18 so i have to increase my dose slightly so bring that up.....
also she changed my artemisinin to a pulse regimen instead of daily........and added the bactrim for the bart........
i did think though that the mepron was a primary drug for babesia rather than a support drug........
good luck its a long and confusing road.....

Yes, Mepron is a completely different drug and is targeting protozoan infections, to which Babesia belongs. It is not a 'support' drug for Lyme and nothing related to Plaquenil. Please start the Mep ASAP.
And remember to take the Mino at least 2 hours before a Mep dose, or at least 6 hours after a Mep dose, else the Mino effectiveness will be cut almost in half and 100mg Mino isn't a very big dose anyway.

Yes, it is quite a journey. And, it can be confusing as well, but we always hear how everyone responds differently to treatment.
For me, I didn't realize how bad my visual problems were, until I started pulsing Minocycline and Zithromax. Within days, I was walking through the supermarket and noticed everything seemed a little clearer. That's when the trails started, but my peripheral vision started getting better. Slowly, the constant static field and trails decrease daily. If I had to put a percentage on it, I'd say it's 80% better.
Talking with others on the forum, Mepron and Bactrim DS get a lot of hype. So, when my LLMD wanted to go with Plaquenil to target Babs, I was a little hesitant. But, searching through posts about Plaquenil, it seems to help a lot of people as well. I figure, I can try it for a few weeks and see how I respond. I don't think I can get any worse on it. If it fails, I can make a case for Mepron or Bactrim DS.
But, I am certainly going to start pulsing Artemisinin around my sick cycles (currently 14-day) -- as I learned from TF who had much success with this method.
I'm still unsure about the low-dose strategy that my LLMD likes to pursue, because I'm ready to attack this. But, I'm improving so I can't say it's not working. And, I figure what I'll do is continue to build up the ABX combinations, and it start hitting it REALLY hard once I feel like I'm hitting the peak.
This of course is on top of a solid diet, exercise, water, supplements (olive leaf, fish oil, glucosamine, milk thistle and others), lemons, etc... which I believe is making this ride much smoother for me.

Seek I am not + for WA-1 from Igenex over 3 yrs ago.
