Just wondering if anyone here has been successful at getting rid of chronic strep or if anyone knows what might help?

I did a search but wasn't sure if those people ever got rid of theirs. Also some of what was mentioned I can't take.

I have been treating lyme and company for over a year now. During my initial testing we discovered that I have very high levels of strep bacteria. Adults should have levels below 85 and mine is now 1360.

A couple of months ago it finally dropped from the upper 900's down to 690 which was the lowest it has been BUT then last month it shot up to 1360 which is the highest it has been. I have no clue why it shot up like that.

Anyhow...it is so frustrating because we think that is my biggest problem at the moment. I think I could make some progress if we could just get rid of this strep.

I have had problems with many antibiotics so I am not sure what to do at this point.

Last time I took penicillin (15 years ago before I was sick) I was allergic to it. I guess I could try it and see if I am still allergic but so far we have stayed away from the penicillin because of my previous allergy.

Zithromax caused my potassium to drop too low even after being given prescription potassium.

Omnicef gave me heart irregularities when I tried to increase to the full dose.

I recently had to stop rifampin because of some severe problems with that.

So I am not doing too well with antibiotic options. I am currently on Doxycycline which is fine but it is not known to help strep.

So I am trying to figure out where to go from here and what others have done to get rid of strep.

I am taking a strep homeopathic but it looks like I need something more.

Any suggestions...natural or medication wise?

Thanks!
Pam :-)

Some specific mixed herbals from 2 different companies may be of interest to you:

www.systemicformulas.com :
#3
ATAK (to break up pockets of infection)
GOLD
Possibly #5

www.inno-vita.com:
Bactrex

If you feel that the bacteria is affecting one or two specific organs it may help to include support for those specific organs from either company.

Available thru health pros only. Ask your doc to get it to you.

My doc gave "Coptis" from Zhang to my daughter who had high levels of strep. She took it for about 2-3 months. Never got retested, though.

My sons had their tonsils and adenoids out last week because of chronic strep. They had very high levels on the DNASE-B AB test.

Get the immune system up to help in the fight. Shiitake mushrooms are great. It will help build white cells. I did them

for my daughter who had several reactions to vaccines. I chopped, pureed, and cooked in everything

we ate. It got her past a possible bmb that had been expected if I could not get it up. That and a

good one a day for children, and as much yogurt as she would eat. It works!

Strep is as difficult to treat as Lyme. I think the idea is to put it into remission. It may even have a cyst form or L form (don't quote me on that). My doctor is an expert on Strep and has done a lot of research papers on it. He still has a difficult time treating it.

I just found out via muscle testing that I have strep. from Dr K- we attend to the chronic strep infections, which often coexist with the herpes viruses. No other treatment has been as successful as Pleo Not (penicillum notatum) from Pleomorphic-Sanum followed by a 6 month course of Pleo Sancom (antidotes for aspergillus niger and mucor racemosus).

Haley...I would also like to know who your doctor is if you could pm me. I would like to look up some of his research papers if possible so I can see what he recommends for treating strep.

I had no idea that it could be as difficult to treat as lyme but I am starting to find that out first hand. I can't believe after a year of antibiotics that we still don't have a handle on this strep.

Mrs. Barthead...I looked up the drops that you mentioned. I was curious because I may be allergic to penicillin. But I saw online that the product says it is not an antibiotic and therefore does not come with the typical side effects that antibiotics do...including allergies. So I am curious if I would be allergic to this or not.

I am not even sure if I am still allergic to penicillin (or if I really was allergic before). I had one instance of a slight rash with penicillin 15 years ago but was never allergic to it prior to that.

Anyhow...thank you both for the information. I am checking out all of my options.

I used to have Strep Throat every single month for 10 months in a row (years before I knew I had Lyme) and none of the antibiotics would ever help. Finally, I went to an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist and I was put on an allergy medecine, Nasonex, and I stopped getting the infections. Good luck [Smile]

Chronic strep lies somewhere in my body. I don't know where, but I know it's there. I use rife anytime it raises it's ugly head.

I'm able to knock it down. It will lay low for a couple months and then I'm fighting it down again.

I really can't explain why after 3+ years of abx and 5 yrs of rife...it's still within me.

Maybe try GSE? Google GSE and strep. I'm pretty sure strep is something it has been shown to kill invitro.
