I will have the blood vessles over or around my knuckles, burst with no trauma. I get a sharp stinging or tingling, and then wahla, I form a small painful hematoma over or surrounding the knuckle. Lasts a few days and then may reoccur several times or not at all, and then it goes away and then seems to occur again. It may be the same knuckle vessel or an entirely different one. Some times it is only one knucke, sometimes its a few within succession of each other. May be confined to one hand or both. Doesn't seem to be any correlation with meds, or foods. I have had this happen perhaps four times over the past two years.
Anyone else have this experience?

I had one doc tell me this couldn't happen... but I knew it could because I watched it happen... then asked another doc years later and they said yes, it can.
The muscles suddenly spasm and "pinch" the vessels, causing a small blood blister sort of looking thing when the vessel burst... or a small bruise.
I've been awakened in the middle of the night with a sharp, sudden pinching sensation and the next morning there is a bruise there. It has also happened in the daytime and I have watched the spot appear.
Often mine are in my biceps... located about in the middle of the muscle... and like yours they have no real rhyme or reason.. one side or the other.. then no more.. then start up again.

I had this all the time before I started treatment.
At work I would break blood vessels in my hands all the time.

Yes, I have had this happen many times. I suspect that it is related to vasculitis and that the bruising comes from just "normal' use. I have had it on the balls of my feet as well. Maybe Bartonella is a culprit rather than Lyme....or it could be either/both.

Broken blood vessels and petechia could also be chlamydia pneumonia. It often comes with lyme, especially in the biofilm. cpnhelp.org has more explanation for vein problems.

Does petechia really corrolate with a Lyme infection? Is there some info to support this, would very much like to know? Or are they just associated with CPN? Where is the CPN connection?
I have a Lyme dx which I question. I also continue to develop diffuse red dots at all points on my body. I easily have 80 of them, haven't really counted.
They are clearly broken blood capillaries. They are usually round and vary in size from a large grain of SEA salt down to small sugar crystal. They do NOT hurt and they do NOT blanche when you press them which I find bizarre.
Another fact, once one appears, they do NOT go away. These started 4-5 years ago, also at a time when I developed nosebleeds. The nosebleeds have stopped, the dots continue.
Is this significant in conjuction with stinging, stabbing, burning nerve pain? Could some of our 'nerve' pain actually be vascular related, i.e. blood flow problems and/or inflammation disturbing small fiber distal nerves?
Just looking for concrete info?
Is petechia a result of vasculitis?

You know, just prior to this current pinky vessel bursting out of no where, I mentioned a sharp stinging, but you clicked something in my memory. I wonder if that sharp stinging was a muscle spasm, as I remember my pinky was stuck in position for a few seconds.
Even more interesting, is in the beginning of my Lyme, Bartonella saga, I had been suspecting ricketssial infection which then lead me on down the trail of Lyme and testing. I wish I would of known about co-infections way back then.
Interestly, MMB3, you mentioned petechia. As also in the beginning of my saga, I had a pettachial rash with EM. My son had the classic bulls eye, progress to EM.
MMB3, it is my understanding that although Lyme is associated with petechial rash, not caused by it from the research I have read. The association being RMSF or rickettsial infections also transmitted commonly along with Lyme.

Thank you. I hadn't seen this discussed much, and until it happened again, I didn't think much about it until recently. And this just seems to be confined to my hands as well. The knuckles and the vessels.

Yes, I do have Bartonella. Vasculitis would make sense. So, if I am now currently going through this blood vessel breaking sx again, then this would mean to me that perhaps my VEGF levels are off? Or???
Would this mean it is a symptom of progression of Bart or that I am doing something right? Is this an exodus of the pathogen from the vessel walls where it likes to be, or is it a result of the effects of the pathogen on the vessel wall?
What does everybody correlate with this occurence? Did this happen prior to any relapses or has it occured prior to gains? I have been having many gains of late. The only thing different besides my rotationals of which I have been using for quite sometime, is adding a pH program, because I was having problems with my urine pH.

I have been currently looking into cpn. My ex had cpn. Is it contagious? From exchanging bodily fluids per say?
I can't find any sources that state it can be transferred.

yes it is. Chlamydia pneumonia is not the other chlamydia t? which is a sexual disease but whatever is in your blood can be transferred. It is pandemic at the moment, so everybody has it and you can get it probably everywhere. If you look many people have some dots. They are not talking about this problem.
It sounds like you have it. I know a dermatologist and he said 50% have this problem. The stinging, red dots, vessel problem - just treat it, it is easy to treat and you feel better soon. Much easier than lyme. I do not know if I have it but I am better on minocyclin. Follow the cpnhelp.org. I think many here on lymenet belong there or also there in addition. You might have lyme as well, they live together in the same biofilm and with some viruses.

Thank you karenl. I actually joined cpn.org a couple of weeks ago when looking into this. I will become more serious about it when I am a bit familar and I am working on it.
Are there any particular herbs one can use for this as well?
