2- What can I do for it? I was reading drink lots of water... anything else?

I dont think my actual lymph nodes are swollen like they get when someone gets sick. It just feels like the middle part of my neck is swollen and it feels like im choking.

How can I tell if its the muscle or node?

Lauri, that is exactly to the note how mine feels! Couldn't have described it better myself.

Drinking lots of water does help a little and sometimes I bounce on my rebounder; but I have been choking for almost a year and a half straight. Some days are better than others.

If I don't feel the choking sensation, then it feels like I am about to get a sore throat. And always feels like the glands are extremely swollen, even though I don't think they are.

Its a miserable feeling. I hope someone that has had this same feeling knows how to get rid of it.

And what is it from?

I was reading that some attribute to bart symptoms and one person said it happened when they started Rifampin just like I recently did so it might be a herx.

is that what you found?

And how do I know if it is a lymph issue vs. a muscle swelling?
Posted by laurisabelle222 (Member # 16591) on :
Im looking on google and it seems like the muscle and not necessarily the lymph nodes that are located in the area I feel the swelling and pressure...

So it is toxins that built up in the muscles?

I also have chest pain and pressure along with this symptom too... wonder what that is..

I think it could be either.

One suggestion from my LLMD is that its possibly inflammation caused by Lyme, and the inflammation is just enough to cause the feeling of choking. In other words we aren't really choking, its just a sensation.

I still lean more toward something to do with glands. But as usual with Lyme, I just have to say......who knows for sure!

Oh so its a symptom and not a herx that would mean..

If drinking water helps, then wouldn't that mean its a toxin issue?

I remember it happening for me when I treated bart and then it went away and hasn't come back until now when I just started Rifampin..

Toxins is another very real possibility. Drink tons of water for a few days and see if you notice a difference.

What infections do you have and what are you treating right now?

Just found this

I am working on lyme with Doxycycline. Already tried the whole array of other antibiotics. Flagyl, zith, biaxin, malarone, minocycline, plaquenil, and......hmmm.....I think thats it??? Now on long term Doxy.

2 years of treatment so far!
Posted by laurisabelle222 (Member # 16591) on :
yeah me too- one yr on Doxy which did nothing for me and I tried Bactrim twice but had to get off it for symptoms I now have again now that im treating bart.

I did well last yr for a few mths on amox and biaxin and have since relapsed so now im doing zithro and rifampin.

I think i might be herxing since i've developmed chest pain, neck swelling, and more dizziness since I started the rifampin so we shall see.

Now that i have this neck thing I think im going to try and see my doc this week... see what he says.

Are you feeling any better?

i think red root helped me...i did a tea with it and then added tincture---i was also doing sarsa stephania and something else. i read about what to do in buhners book. it workes just like rifampin to get rid of the lumps...i hope they don't come back when i stop the tea. when i stopped rifampin they came back
Posted by laurisabelle222 (Member # 16591) on :
What does Buhner say about this in his book?

so, rifampin helped it go away?

so, rifampin helped it go away?

yes---but in 2-3 wk they came back te times happened twice with rifam...

so i switched to herbs...i will be o them 8-12 months before i try to get off them...i hope the lumps don't come back...we'l see

A speech therapist showed me a technique that helps a little. Use a massage cream, start at the base of your earlobe and firmly slide your fingers down your throat to its base. Repeat, moving your hand a little more to the center each time. Then do the other side.

Another tip is to pinch your jawbone and twist. Then move a little and pinch again. Do the whole length of the jawbone. Then massage it.

These massages help to relax your throat muscles and I think they also helped drain some of the lymph. My neck even seemed to appear different.

Hello, Cleavers is a good herb for lymph drainage. Iherb has it in a glycerite form as well as an alcohol tincture. I find it helpful for lymph drainage.

Very mild and healing at the same time.

Peace and ease...
