I'm just a little confused b/c I'm only on Rocephin. Can I just have a Herx from the Bart dying off on it's own ?
Either way, I was told to hold the Rocephin x 2 days and then resume.
In the mean time, I was given some Lamictal and low dose Zyprexa. I will try these meds a few days and see what happens. I know these 2 meds well and they tend to help within the first few days unlike AD's if they are going to work.
I thank everyone for your support and thoughts in the other thread I had going.
Dr. plans to add IV Zithromax in 2 weeks. He says that should really get at the Bart, but doesn't want to add it yet until I have the Psych meds on board. He says the Herx's from the IV Z-max could make me hallucinate with the fragile state I'm in.
Whether he is right or not doesn't matter. At least he has my best interests in mind.
I will try and detox a little better over the next week.
I am so worn out from this crap. The crying I have been doing is the kind of crying I did when I lost my brother 3 years ago. I'm exhausted from all of this and just hope I clear up over the next few days.
I Love my kids so much as you guys can tell. They are my world and even though they love me just being here, it still kills me that I can't do much with them.
I have others that will take them and do fun stuff, but even that kills me when they leave b/c I want to be with them doing whatever they are doing.
I can't wait to be done w this disease one day. Perhaps if they were older, it wouldn't affect me so much, but they are just 7 and 9 and these are the wonder years. They understand daddy is sick and they know I'm trying my hardest to get well.

I started Rocephin and Zith 2 weeks ago and have been crying at the drop of a hat, about 20+ times a day.
I know it's not me as just before that I was very calm and joyful for a few weeks.
It's the Bart. So go ahead and cry - it's not us, it's the bad guy dying!!!
Can you feel all my supportive hugs? Hang in there!!! We will survive this and thrive (with our kids) very soon!!!!

Thx 17, feels good not to be alone, but don't wish this on anyone. Still, very hard to deal with. It's ridiculous, pathetic crying. I hope 2 days off, will reset things.

Keep the faith...sounds like your Doc is woring hard for you...something to be thankful for. Try not to dwell on the time lost with the kids. Its just not in your control.

Per Dr Burrascano, Rocephin is bacteriostatic for bartonella -- not bacteriocidal. So yes, it is probably killing off some bartonella -- not enough to get rid of it, but enough to keep it from continuing to multiply out of control.

Bea, can you explain a bit more? I've heard people on here say that Rocephin and Zith was the combination that took them far. Why would it just keep bart from multiplying but not get rid of it? What would get rid of it? Thank you!

Technically bartonella is an intracellular pathogen and Rocephin is not an intracellular med -- but Zithromax is.
Intracellular pathogens such as bart and babs also are extracellular -- meaning they come out of the cell in order to invade other cells. These free floating extracellular bartonella can be killed by Rocephin -- but the intracellular bartonella can only be killed by an intracellular drug -- meaning a drug that either penetrates the cell wall or destroys the cell wall.
As to what meds actually are bacteriocidal for bartonella -- a very good question that at this point I am not sure anyone really has an answer to. Will send you an email with more info.
