In the last month I've had mild to severe pain in my lower right groin area. It often seems to then affect my lower R back and sometimes even the R leg.

It feels more like a muscle ache than anything but it doesn't follow any pattern as some days I'm totally fine and other days it hurts all day.

It randomly comes and goes. Sometimes wakes me up in the middle of the night.

I guess the one thing that seems to really irritate it is if I am on my feet a lot. If I'm sitting or resting most of the day, it doesn't seem to bother me as much.

Any ideas on what would cause this kind of localized pain?

It sounds like sciatica, inflammation of the sciatic nerve. I get it, too. I have Lyme, Babs, and Bart.

I wish I could be more helpful as to treatments. I haven't found anything helpful. You might look it up online to see if there are any suggestions (such as exercises).

My first thought was sciatica too. I had it during both of my pregancies. There are stretches that might help. Of course, w/ lyme&co, who knows if the normal ways will help.

I have had this exact same thing. I had it before I found out I had Lyme.

I went for test after test and all were negative.

I still get the same pain every now and again.

It's not as bad as it was - when it first started it was severe.

Does it seem to get worse for you around the 4 week cycle?

I've only had the pain for maybe 5-6 weeks so I haven't noticed a pattern.

I thought sciatic nerve pain was a more intense pain focused more in the back?

Most of my pain is in the front R groin area but then will sometimes radiate to my back.

I have a bit of a bulge there where I had a C-section 11 yrs ago. Could it be a hernia that would cause that type of pain?

Doesn't sound like MY sciatica... but could be, I guess.

Are you sure you didn't pull a groin muscle?

Sure it's not appendicitis??

About sciatica: it can affect those areas. I'm not saying it is definitely that, but I know it can as it did for me and hubby.

Pain radiating down the leg is a big clue. Does it feel like radiating pain? Is the back area sore and low, like around the hip bones? The sacroiliac joints are in the region, and I think sciatica emanates from there. I have so many issues with my SI joints.

The pulling of a groin muscle sounds suspect, also, as Tutu suggested.

I had aching like that and the dr. though it was lymph nodes. It is worse when I am up more on my feet. Get an ultrasound of your abdomen. If it is appendix, you might have fluid around the appendix.

I had a slip on my tile floor and my groin area hurt like crazy. The pain radiated to my back as well. Went to my PCP and he thought I had an inguinal hernia. It was checked further with an ultrasound but no hernia shown. Even had vaginal ultrasound. Findings there: ... No uterus found! lol At least they were right there. The ultrasound is a good idea. In the meantime this is what helped me. Lots of very hot epsom salt baths. Careful in bending so not to reinjure area. A lot of time for healing. Icing my back. Again, it took lots of time and being gentle with myself. It hurts I know. Take care of yourself.
