I noticed an overall fatigue and lack of well being for about a week it lasted...this is despite being on doxycycline (300mg) within 48 hours of bite....

is it normal to still get those feelings even though i was on ABX almost immediately? I don't think it was a herx...but since i started treatment so soon i wasnt expecting any symptoms at all

Lyme is fast-spreading in most cases.

So are you feeling better now??

There is also the possibility that you already had Lyme in your system and this most recent bite triggered it.

I can't tell you if it's normal or not because I didn't get on antibiotics right away.

But just keep in mind there are a lot of possible causes for the icky feelings, like 1) Lyme is dying, and as it dies, it releases toxins that make you feel bad, 2) Just the antibiotic itself could be giving you side effects and making you feel bad. They are drugs, afterall (but worth it to keep yourself healthy) or 3) if you aren't taking good probiotics 3 hours after each antibiotic dose, you could be experiencing yeast overgrowth (I would recommend being on nystatin to prevent yeast)

So there are a lot of options...don't rule out that it is just the drug (though it doesn't mean you should stop the drug yet!). But I think Lyme die off is a big possibility too.

I could have been just a cold or bug.

It could be because the Yanks have dropped 2 of 3 to the Mets and Sox [Frown]

Either way, keep aware of how you feel and if you notice anything else, get tested. I'd almost get tested in a few weeks anyway.

You are probably co-infected. Get tested for babesia/ehrlichia/bartonella. Glad you got on antibiotics right away, might want to bump the Doxy to 400 mg/day also.

I don't know exactly when I was bitten, but was on doxy 200mg probably around 1 week after the bite. At right around 2 weeks after the bite, I experienced a horrible fatigue like you're talking about, and it slowly went away after a week, also like you said. In my case, it was that fatigue that really made me think I did get Lyme, although I do find lots of reports of people saying doxy caused fatigue, so you can't be 100% sure (see here: http://www.medications.com/se/doxycycline-hyclate).

I agree with wildcondor...co infections cause massive fatigue at times. You should also treat for those. The sooner you treat them, the easier and faster it will be to kick them!
