If they did, did it help?

I think money would be better spent with a LL Ph.D. or therapist. If they don't understand about lyme, they couldn't possible know what's needed regarding adrenals and nervous system involvement.

I know she can't make referrals but someone like this author:

Deliberations of a psychiatrist who evaluates and possibly diagnoses Lyme and other tick-borne diseases of the mind, sharing case histories of those who ...
------

It would also be of tremendous help if a Ph.D or therapist also understood this connection to liver stress:

I have not been to one in person, but did use the Midwest Center for Anxiety and Depression's program at home. I was having panic attacks at the time and this program, as simple as it sounds, REALLY helped me overcome them.

It has also helped me with generalized and anticipatory anxiety. I did it a few years ago and have seen great long-term affects. I still use their Generalized Relaxation tape when under stress and sometimes in order to sleep.

I'm sure I already asked in previous threads but be sure you're not getting even a trace of asparatme or MSG in anything (even check cough drops, meds, toothpastes).

Google for all the names those hide under. Even "natural flavors" can be MSG.

Both can cause neurotoxicity and increase anxiety to the moon.

Also, if you supplement with L-Glutamine, that can be very neurotoxic for lyme patients, causing or intensifying anxiety and mood symptoms. Details are here:

I'd sooner go for a therapist who has knowledge of Lyme or at least chronic illness, especially those that involve the endocrine system and nervous system.

I did this, and I can say honestly that cognitive behavioral therapy helped tremednously in my ability to deal with the mental aspects of the illness.

The cause may be organic, but that doesn't mean you have no control over how your brain will and can react. There are people with cerebral palsy and other painful diseases that can self hypnotize themselves on a subtle level to bring their pain to a tolerable level, for instance. The brain is such a powerful tool.

It can be very empowering and also its just a breath of fresh air to talk to someone who will listen and has knowledge of this type of thing. The brain and body are so connected to one another that treating one really does have a big impact on how the other will continue to heal IMO.
