Hi Guys,

Our LLMD has my husband on 30 days of Levaquin for Bart.

But as I read the pharmacy paper about how it works, it says that Levaquin stops the growth of bacteria.

So why wouldn't he be on something else with it that kills the existing Bart?

Just wondering...

Can't give you a specific answer, but Levaquin works wonders for me with Bart.

Make sure your hubs is taking loads and loads of multiple forms of Magnesium (at least 2+ hrs away from ABX) to avoid tendon issues ("floxing").

Dawn, did you take Levaquin by itself?

Taking it by itself is fine. See this:

http://www.lymebook.com/antibiotic-treatment-for-babesia-bartonella-ehrlichia-co-infections

Notice where he says that "the fluoroquinolones are not generally used in combination with other antibiotics."

And, notice this also:

"Also, it is important not to take minerals like calcium, zinc, iron, and magnesium within several hours of the dose of Levaquin, because these minerals will bind Levaquin and render it less effective. I advise that patients take levofloxacin early in the morning, or it can be taken late in the evening, but not at bedtime."

This doc actually tells his patients not to take magnesium, calcium, zinc, and iron within 4 HOURS of taking the levaquin.

Thanks, TF. Very good to know.

Hens, yes, I did.

TF posted correctly in that FQ's are not generally used as a combo.
