Sorry I couldn;t think of a title, but for some reason the brain fog has been not so great for the past 3 days.
My questions is if Lyme is not caught within the first 24 to 48 hours, how long can it take to get rid of it or go in remission?
My LLMD first though I was bit in July of 2009 because I was bitten by a bunch of bugs and one of the bites formed a bulls eye. The other bites formed huge blisters.
But it seems that every med he gives me just brings out a new symptom or never makes them go away completely.
So now he thinks that I may have been bitten previously and this new array of bites brought out the Lyme.
Can that be true? I have been on almost a year of treatment and my body still aches, I have brain fog, joint pain, calf twitches, headaches and so on...
I have taken the Doxy, then Amox with the abx enhancer (can't remember the name), then the Bactrim, then the Ceftin with Biaxin and Planequil, and now I am pulsing Flagyl for two weeks on and then back to Ceftin and Biaxin for the other two weks.
Hate, hate, hate Flagyl btw. Messes with my moods and head.
I also do the supplement thing and the diet thing but it never makes me feel like the old me. I often describe it as there someone else living in my head who isn't me, and the old me is pushing to get out.
I am not crazy even though the above sentence sounds nuts.
Any thoughts or views would be appreciated.

Have you gone after co-infections like bartonella and babesia?

Yes been tested for both and negative. I've had the western blot and IGENEX done twice already and he wants to do it again when I go back.
I guess my question is, is this normal on treatment? I have days when I feel better and other days where I feel flu like.

treating is a one step forward two steps back at times.
Treating the co-infections whether tested positive or not, is what most llmds do if there are no improvememnts or worsening of symptoms noted.
Have you read Dr. B's 2008 Guidelines?

No, you're not crazy at all and this all sounds normal with Lyme treatment.
PS.. Your LLMD may want to try a trial run of babesia or bart meds just to see if you respond. Testing is pretty lousy on those too.

Going back to LLMD today. Had to stop the Flagyl 750mg 2x a day. It was driving me insane.
