I found out that I have c.diff. That is the cause of my constant abd. cramping. I am taking Rifampin and Zithro but was previously taking Amoxycillan and then Flagyl (which made me have bad herxes).
My doctor is starting me out with Saccharomyces Boulardii (same as Florastor I think) and we will re-visit whether to start Vancomycin when I see him in a few weeks. Flagyl hits my Lyme symptoms too hard so I doubt I'm up for that.
I am wondering if anyone has successfully treated their c.diff with only Saccharomyces Boulardii. Or perhaps other more natural means. Thanks for any information.

So sorry you have C Diff!
Check out WildCondor's posts on the topic, if you haven't already.
I can't help too much with your specific question - I've mostly used vanco to treat my recurring C Diff, but wanted to offer support.
At the moment, I am pondering what to do next, as I had a bad reaction to vanco recently - but that was after many months of use, and we are not positive that it was the vanco that caused the issue.
I, too, cannot tolerate flagyl - it is just too much.
So I am investigating oil of oregano combined with Betaine HCL. But I'm not in a crisis, and just finished up a month of vanco, so I'm in a good place right now.
You can pm me for details on the oil of oregano, although I admit that I'm experimenting on myself.
That said, if you are in the midst of a serious bout of C Diff, I would probably go straight to the vanco. Many of us have needed to do a 3 month taper, too.
S. Boulardii is essential, but I've not heard that it's possible to treat C Diff with that alone?
Have you checked out the C Diff Support board? Great people there: http://www.cdiffsupport.com/ Posted by WildCondor (Member # 434) on :
It is rare that you can treat it with Florastor alone. Usually you need oral Flagyl or oral Vancomycin to knock it out, combined with Florastor. C.diff also has a VERY high relapse rate which is why taper protocols are often used as you ween off the vancomycin.
I would go straight to Vancomycin too, this bug is getting extremely toxic and dangerous and it is better to be safe.
You can also try Alinia for it, it has mixed results though.
Oral Vanco will not give you a herx because it is not absorbed into the bloodstream, it stays in the gut.
There really are not any other natural means to treat this bug to date. Well, that said, the most natural way is with a fecal flora transplant but that is reserved for bad relapsing cases, like mine was.
The cramping can be torture. Try some hycosamine or Bentyl, it can help with symptoms, as can xanax.
