Does anyone feel sicker at night?

I gradually feel worse as the day progresses. So much worse that I have to lay down and rest or take a nap for a couple hours each afternoon (usually from 3-5pm). The nap helps but then I get hit again later in the evening.

For awhile I thought that it was a side effect of my IV's. So I pushed back my schedule and finish my IV's immediately before bed. I also try to eat a snack in the evening but that doesn't seem to be helping either.

Between 10 and 11pm each night I get hit hard with flue like symptoms (weak, woozy, heavy head, hot, sweaty, body aches, and extreme nausea). I feel so terrible that I cannot fall asleep. I have to try to sleep before the episode hits or treat the symptoms so that I can sleep later. If I go to bed before the episode hits I frequently wake up in the middle of the night feeling ill.

Sometimes though the nausea is so bad that I get sick trying to brush my teeth. Last night I got sick about a half hour after taking Zofran and advil. It hits me so fast I barely make it to the restroom or trash can. After I throw up I feel a little better and can go to sleep.

Any suggestions? I don't understand why this happens. I really hate throwing up and feeling sick in general.

Oh, Sammy, I have no idea you have been feeling sick. But now knowing what you have been through in the past few days while providing me with all the helps really makes me feel much more grateful, and yet terribly guilty. I didn't know how you have been feeling...Selfish of me...

Napping itself sounds normal to me - I get sleepy between 3-5 in the afternoon too, even I am not aware that I am sick. But vomiting is a bad thing.

Could that be that your energy just gradually run down over the day time?

I hope someone comes soon to help.

Take care,

Keep a trash can by your bed that you can pick up and travel with you to the bathroom if needed.

A cool cloth to the sides and back of the neck and forehead can help.

What is your liver support? Milk Thistle, at least? Are you getting too hot.

Are you getting a little sea salt in your diet? You could be dehydrated. QUINOA FLAKES can help. Just add a a little boiling water to some in a cup and it's some sort of food for you.

Ginger capsules can help lessen nausea.

Hope you can talk to your LLMD about this. You may need some gallbladder protection. There is a prescription that those with IV Rocephin use. It may be helpful for you.

You just said "IV" you didn't say what Rx. If Rocephin, be sure you are taking that gallbladder protective Rx.

Good luck.

You wrote on May 28 that you were starting Nuva Ring - that might be connected.

The Chinese figured out centuries ago that we live by the human biological clock.

Look it up: 5-7 PM the Kidneys are working overtime. ll PM to 1 AM - the Gallbladder does its hardest work. 1 AM to 3 AM - the liver is trying to do the toughest job.

Most of our detoxing - when these organs are hardest at work - takes place around these hours. Look up the rest and try to work in some special support for these organs. Help them before they stop functioning the way the must if you want to become well again. Just google "Traditional Chinese Medicine organ Clock".

And talk to your doctor - that's what you pay him for. Learn about organ support meds and binders to catch the neurotoxins for elimination. They are what makes us feel sick - as long as they remain in the body.

Take care.

I was wondering if it could be your kidneys?? Any pain there?

When I had a kidney infection it always hit me late at night.. about 10:30. That is when the vomiting would begin. UGH!

My dr said it was common for the kidney infection to flare at night.

Were you able to call your dr and ask him about your symptoms?

Hope you are doing better today! [Smile]

Thanks all. I've had these symptoms for the past several months now. Every 2-4days they get more severe then quiet down some for 1-2 days.

My doctor should be aware, well I hope he is. I've tried to explain what happens but I've just been so sick in general that I can't mention every symptom and every detail at my follow-up's.

I am on IV Rocephin(4days on 3days off) and Tygacil(daily). Taking Actigall to prevent gallstones, Pekana detox and drainage kit for support, zeolite drops, along with NAC and a Chinese herbal liver support mix with Bupleurum. Can't take Milk Thistle because I'm on Malarone.

I try to stay hydrated and eat a healthy diet, including carbs (but no added sugar). I do also use sea salt but not daily. And have tried various forms of Ginger but no luck. Zofran and phenergan together are not enough to prevent the vomiting when nausea is at it's worst.

I did start with Nuva Ring last month but haven't noticed any changes or new symptoms with it. This is something that my LLMD recommended because I tend to flare before and during my period and have heavy irregular periods.

I've also noticed that these symptoms/episodes occur during the day too if I try to participate in any activity. For example, I went shopping today to one store to help pick out a bridal shower present for my sister.

We had not been in the store for more than 10min when the symptoms hit. I started feeling fluey, hot and sweaty(I'm usually cold), tired, weak, dizzy/woozy, shaky w/hand tremors, nauseated, my head feels heavy, and my whole body hurts.

It's like my body starts to shut down without my permission. It makes me so mad, I only feel worse until I get to lay down and sleep. Sleep helps to reduce the severity of the symptoms and keep them at bay for a few more hours.

Has anyone else experienced this? I don't understand why this is happening. I should be feeling better.

Up for anyone who missed this earlier in the week?

Analyze any new meds you've been taking for the time period you have been ill.

Tygacil maybe?

Get a blood sugar monitor.

It is EXACTLY what happens to me when my blood sugar drops quickly.

It is most unpleasant, and happens way to fast and frequently for me lately.

Something to think about.

Good luck,
Wizard

Tygacil will definitely give you nausea and you are taking it with Rocephin. I have never heard of someone taking both.

When I took Tygacil I had to take anti-nausea meds. I could only do two weeks because it was so rough. My LLMD said that everyone has a tough time with this medicine.

Good input from both of you! I hope this helps Sammy!!

Thanks again everyone.

I've had these symptoms to varying degrees off and on for a couple years. They have gradually gotten worse over time. Looking back I noticed a dramatic increase in the frequency and severity of these symptoms in April, around the time when I started my second set of HBO treatments.

I've been on the same medications since Dec 09 so I don't think that's the main cause. Maybe I'm still herxing from the HBOT though I finished the treatments almost 5weeks ago?

Thanks for taking the time to think this over with me. I've been feeling really frustrated lately, wanting so much to be well again.

Dear sammy,
I have had bouts of that as well. I take Promethazine frequently. In March, I found out my progesterone level was way too low. Estrogen dominance runs in our family. The nausea and other issues you describe may be related to Estrogen Dominance, as well as low blood sugar (mentioned by WIZARD) and Adrenal Gland trouble.

Fatigue is common in the late afternoon for people suffering with Adrenal Gland Exhaustion. My glucose tends to run low, and I have to consume a lot of carbohydrates in order to keep it up to 80. You may want to try going gluten-free if you are not already, too. A number of Lyme patients cannot tolerate it or dairy. Nausea is the worst! I had the worst stomach flu back in January. Vomiting is something I try to avoid at all costs as well, but that flu was not even phased by my medication.

It was so bad that I actually carried around those little plastic bags from Wal-Mart just in case. Unfortunately, one bag had a small hole in it. Perhaps I should complain to them about that.
I had my gallbladder out in 2003, and it causes symptoms like you describe. So does the Depo-Provera shot and other forms of birth control. Keebler made a good suggestion about checking to make sure the NuvaRing is not adding to the trouble.

I tend to feel worse on days I overdo it physically. Going to the store has been impossible lately. All of my energy is spent when I have to go anywhere. Due to the issues I am having, a hysterectomy may be next. Things are not going well.

Sincerely,
Jin
