A few weeks ago I had what I've come to think was a herx from he** [Roll Eyes] . I thought it was an allergic reaction to a new antibiotic, but after reading some old posts and hearing that a herx can cause a hive-like-rash, it's more likely a herx.

It started out like the flu; achy, stabbing headache, blurry eyes, heavy legs and bloating. I took an epsom salts/hydrogen peroxide bath and my ankles started to itch. Then I saw small red blotches or bumps on my legs. I felt terrible for three days.

Went to my pcp, blood pressure was low (even for me) and he took blood tests that resulted in the following:

WBC 3.6 (Range 4.6-10.2)
Sedrate 42 (Range 0-20)
ALK 158 (Range35-136)
ALT 230 (Range 15-65)
AST 209 (Range 5-37)
GGT 246 (Range 5-85)

All the other blood work was normal. I would appreciate any input or guidance in discerning what this was. Herx, flare or allergic reaction? Anyone else experience anything like this before?

How were your Eosinophils? These can be elevated during allergic reactions.

You will find them on the CBC several lines below the WBC.

I can't find Eosinophils listed. Could it be
Gran #?

Also, ImmunoCAP IgE was equivocal.

That's not good. You're having liver issues! ALT and AST are very elevated. You should talk to your doc. I wouldn't 'guess' or have others here play doctor when numbers are up like that.

I've never had any liver issues, ever. My llmd checks monthly. I'm going to fax this to my llmd today. Thanks for your input.

EVERY herx involves liver issues. Liver support is always vital.

Are you saying this must be a herx, because it involves liver issues? Can you tell me more?

I am on Mepron, so I am not currently taking milk thistle, but am taking ALA, burdock (llmd recommended to replace milk thistle) and Pekana drainage for liver, lymph and kidneys.
