My 3 year old was tested for lyme on Friday through Labcorp. He has 2 positive IGG bands present - 41 and 39. IGM was normal.

I have pulled a couple of ticks off of him over the past couple of years. I had him tested because he frequently wakes up in the middle of the night screaming that his legs hurt or his feet are burning. The other night, he woke up screaming with his hand over his eye saying it hurt. Also, lots of tummy issues - loose stools, diarrhea. He only complains at night though about pain (which could be growing pains or for attention). Tummy issues throughout the day.

He is very thin and gets agitated really easily (but he is 3). Other than the above, he is healthy and plays all day.

Would you treat based on his lab results and symptoms?? I am going to have another test run through Igenex.

Thanks for the feedback.

Are you seeing an LLMD? I would run it by your LLMD.

It sure sounds like it could be. And I expect they would treat.

Band 39: "Unknown what this antigen is, but based on research at the National Institute of Health (NIH), other Borrelia (such as Borrelia recurrentis that causes relapsing fever), do not even have the genetics to code for the 39 kDa antigen, much less produce it. It is the most specific antibody for borreliosis of all."

Darn it all!!

Sounds like maybe a co-infection too like bartonella.

You really need to take that baby to a LLMD.

Hang in there Mom.

I've had two children successfully treated for Lyme.

Theirs was congenital though.

Geneal

thanks everyone. I am really sick and can't imagine him having to go through this torture. I told his pediatrician that 39 was the most specific band of all. She said nobody would treat him based on these results, but she is not a LLMD.

And why would a 3 year old have these bands appear??

My LLMD won't treat children under the age of 8, but I guess he would suggest someone.

I'm going to run it again through Igenex and see what the results are there. I'll talk to my LLMD on the 22nd.

Thank you!!!

and "is very thin and gets agitated really easily"

based on this information ALONE, I would take him to LLMD immediately!!!!

It sure sounds like BART to me!!!
