This swollen joint literally popped up night before last and that was the final straw for me to really get freaked out and what sent me immediately to the doctor.

Does anyone have this? Does this look "normal" or "common" for Lyme? This is what my NP said did not look like Lyme to her and why she ordered the RA test as well.

PLEASE .. any opinions needed!!!

YES this looks like Lyme to me.

My mom had this. One knuckle would swell overnight and then shrink down again, then another one would swell, etc etc.

She also had this type of swelling in both thumbs. It fluctuated a lot and eventually went away with treatment.

My mom was diagnosed with scleroderma but she really had/has chronic Lyme.

Wow. Sure could be lyme! It can do anything to the body that it wants to!

Ok, thank you both. *sigh* It doesn't hurt or anything ... it's kind of spongey. My finger joints all ached the day before it popped up but this is the only one that swelled as far as is truly noticeable.

Edit: Oh, this is a pic I found online that looks very much like my bite did at first except I think this one still has a tick in it ... the brown spot.

Usually if the ticks digs in and drinks blood, one knows it's there. But I guess he could have bitten you & fell off for some reason. Maybe you were scratching & scatched it off without knowing it. Regardless, I think you have a tick bite.

OH yeah. They fall off all the time... esp when you've been scratching it!!

Boy, I don't know what's causing that swelling, but I bet that doing warm soaks would help.

Set up a large pot of very warm water to soak your hand in.
A gallon of water will hold the heat alot longer than just a cup will.

Set up two chairs...one for you to sit in, and one next to that to set the pot of water on.
Have something to read, or watch tv, as this gets boring.

Put your whole hand in the warm water, and soak for 15 minutes every hour.
The warmth relaxes the blood vessels and the increased bloodflow brings nutrients to heal the problem area.

Have a towel handy for when you're done.
Let me know how this works for you.

Thank you all for the comments. I suppose it could have been such a tiny sucker that my poor eyes couldn't see it ... it's hard to see below my big belly as it is! [Wink] I know I'm sick if I shared these pics of the worst part of my body! LOL! I'm talking about my bite pics of my belly .. I'm so confused now, don't know if they are in this thread or another. LOL1
