I've spent the last couple of hours searching and reading past threads here about EBV but haven't really found what I'm looking for.
I got the latest round of blood work results back today and my EBV levels are high. But I'm wondering just how high they are? Of course, I will ask my doctor when he goes over the results with me. But sadly I have learned that I need to be prepared and basically know as much as he should know so that I know if I'm being led astray. Sad, isn't it? So here are my results (through Quest):
EBV-VCA IgG 4.18 (positive is >1.10) EBV-NA IgG 3.86 (positive is >1.10)
In edition, it looks like my iron is low, my vitamin D is low, sed rate is still elevated at 36, alkaline phosphatase is low, Free T4 is low and thyroglobulin antibodies are low.
I'm curious if anyone here has experience with EBV levels and tell me if mine should or could point to any particular area of concern? Thanks!

My CMV and Parvo are measured in a range like your EBV and they are higher than that and my doctor is not concerned. I do have high EBV antibody titers in the 1:640 range for IgG (using the different reference range), and my doctor is watching and treating that.

Yes,only if the IgG is really outside the reference range. I was told that it is then probably chronic disease.
But I was just told that my EBV and CMV will not be treated because it is probably just because of all other infections and EBV will be better if the other infections will go.

So how do I know just how "outside the reference range" my results are? I guess the magic answer is to wait for my doctor to call and hopefully he can tell me.
I just feel like I can't trust anybody, and need to know all of the answers before I talk to my doctor. Silly, I know. Thanks for humoring me!

Mine are high. . out of reference, but my doc doesn't think they are high for ME and all the other lyme related stuff going on.
What that mean, I don't know, but they are high for me, not to her.

my son had recent labs and his IgG for Parvo B19 was way out of range.... IgM was negative though. No-one has suggested a need to treat for this. I kind of think this is what triggered his hemolytic anemia....

I am not a doctor but I don't think that is very high.
Everyone tests positve for EBV.

I'll ask again in ref to EBV testing. Specifically the Early Antigen. Why is the EA now not included when doctors test for EBV? In the past it was part of the EBV panel. I am thinking perhaps the most important part - in determining active or re-activated EBV with the other values. I was certain I had reactivated EBV when I first got sicker 4 years ago. Tests said no. I realized the EA not part of the test so asked to be tested for EBV EA. It came back positive. ie suggested reactivated EBV. Months later tested neg on EA. Don't know what to think. I feel more sick as the weeks and months go by. Lots of tests - no Dx - but I am finally starting to believe I have LD and or Bart.

I was told in 1988 that my EBV titers were so high I most likely had hiv or hodgkins. Had neither. It turned out to be had lyme symptoms, but living in the city and in the 80's no one really thought of it. Diagnosed in 2002 and on treatment for years. Good luck.

My IGG was very high, yet my ILADs doc didn't treat for mono. Either it represents a past infection, or he expects treating Lyme + friends will help instead. I've been assuming it just meant a past infection.
