Probably would carry lots of stuff. I don't know how they can say they don't spread disease. If that is really true, then they should be studied for just how in the world they sterilize themselves after each meal. That would sure be worth knowing.

No doctor would ever believe disease would come from a bug that is not supposed to carry disease, even if the matter has not been studied in detail (just what have they tested bed bugs for, anyway?). Our medical system just can't make that stretch.

Still, it is good news that it "seems" that bedbugs don't carry disease - people aren't dropping like flies. Good sign. But stealth infections could go undetected.

Mosquitoes are the bigger threat, really. However, the best we can do is the best we can do - and take good care of ourselves and attend to matters as soon as we might get some sign to do so.

Traveling can be a challenge as bedbugs can hop a ride on luggage, etc. One article from last year suggested that people unpack out of doors when they return home. There are many other precautions that might make sense to incorporate into routine without excessive worry.

I have a fantasy theory that just as bugs can carry germs, so too, they might just carry good stuff with them, too. Who knows? Could be. While I prefer to avoid bite, when too late - each time I get a mosquito bite, I just imagine a little mix of magic, maybe a drop of some element of health. That would be way cool, eh? It at least keeps me entertained.

And, the western fence lizard may hold some clues to all that as it is immune to spirochetes (not that I want to get a bite from such a critter, though).

Oy, now you mentioned the rash and itch.

Both me and my daughter came down with those blister-like rashes all over our body from a recent trip. I kept thinking it is some food that we ate.

What is the bedbug rash looks like?
