ive been recently getting eczema all over, which has never happened to me before. the only connection i can make is to yeast, which i try my best to control while on the ABX. i cut out pasta, bread, sugar etc. and i take my priobiotics regularly.

anybody else had eczema pop up as a result of yeast?

Absolutely! Once I got rid of the yeast issue, the eczema went away!

If I cheat on my yeast control diet, it comes back. First to itch are my hands.

You need to be strict on the diet and take Diflucan. I also take antifungal herbs as well.

Eczema is often thought to be caused by an over reactive immune system. Triggers can be allergens or even normal skin flora.

Bleach baths may help (1/4 cup bleach in a tub full of water). Check it out here: http://tinyurl.com/crx7n6

For yeast control, you want to minimize the overall amount of carbs (which become glucose, i.e., sugar, in your body), so you can use any low carb diet book.

Ideally, give up packaged foods, but if not, then look at the grams of carbohydrates, substract the grams of fiber, and keep your grams of carbs low (usually 20-120g per day; find the level that works for you, your weight and your yeast). Try to spread your daily carbs across all your meals instead of eating them all at once, and always eat some protein at the same time.

If you get tired of counting, you can just eliminate everything made of sugar and grain, eat mostly meat/eggs/nuts/good fats and vegetables, and high fiber fruits like strawberries and apples. If you choose to eat dairy, try cheese (more fat and protein, less carbs), whole milk (less carbs than skim milk), or yogurt with live probiotics (at least you get yeast-fighting probiotics with your carbs).

Some people have dairy sensitivity or allergy, and Lyme can cause people to develop allergies they didn't have before. Some also say human beings did not evolve eating cow's milk. You can't take doxy within 2 hours of dairy products. So dairy may be okay for you or you may have reasons to give it up or limit it.

If you look at what people ate for the first 3 million years as hunter-gatherers, it was mostly meat/fish, green plants, nuts, and a bit of fruit when in season. People did not have agriculture and a diet based on grain and/or domestic animals until at least 30,000 years ago. So in theory, we should be healthier with the diet of a prehistoric person.

I think if you are not having yeast trouble, then whatever you're eating is okay, and if you are having problems, then there might be something still in your diet that is encouraging it.

Eczema can be a result of systemic inflammation. (I'm sure it can have other causes, too.) I used to get it associated with winter asthma. However, I had great success reducing the inflammation and getting rid of those symptoms with--a low carb diet. [Smile] Inflammation is also said to be a factor in Lyme, so the diet could be helpful that way as well.

If you do eat any carbs that aren't non-starchy vegetables or high fiber fruit, then try for whole grains, and eat organic, real food as much as you can (so you can get the most nutrients and avoid chemicals, sugar and transfats).

I don't think the diet should have to be so complicated. When I'm not cheating on mine, I make a plate of meat or eggs and vegetables, for every meal. For snacks I eat nuts, and sometimes an ounce of dark chocolate or a little bit of sugar free candy. (I shouldn't have the sugar or sweeteners, but it's better than eating, say, a pile of regular cookies.) Other snacks can be fruit with cheese, a little yogurt, a boiled egg, unsweetened dried coconut (this is great with salted organic nuts), or anything that is mostly protein. I put coconut oil in everything, or sometimes use olive oil or real butter.

If I want to eat anything else, then I count the carbs and limit my portion, and combine it with protein/fat/fiber so the sugar is absorbed more slowly. I use liquid stevia as a sweetener. I make biscuits with almond flour. And sometimes I just cheat and eat a bunch of carbs, which may or may not make me sicker; it's a gamble.

In my recent bout with yeast, I did not get eczema, but I know it is possible.

If your current yeast remedies are not enough, you could add some more natural anti-yeast supplements.

I had something that I thought was eczema which wasn't. It itched, was weepy and drove me crazy. I even had it biopsied and it was not eczema. Turns out LLMD believes it was a bartonella rash. Many months of Rifampin and Levaquin kicked it. Hope your rash is better soon.

Thanks for all the responses.

this is a picture of what's going on. the patches itch pretty bad, and when scratched, they don't bleed - the kind of ooze. and then crust up.

i don't think it's from any kind of soap i used, or fragrance , etc. and i can't imagine it being from food. i haven't ate anything recently that i haven't ate my whole life.

I am 31 and getting acne all over my face. I also think this is because of the yeast but my LLMD says that's because of the Abx.

I have also had eczema twice during the last six weeks. The first time it was on my chest and neck and the second time also spread to my arms.

It is clear that the hot weather in New York helped to trigger the outbreak. However, there is obviously an underlying something that it causing my skin to break out this way.

I know that yeast could be a factor, but I seem to have my yeast under control right now by taking massive amounts of TherBiotic Complete in powder form.

I think in my case it has been caused by my liver being completely overloaded and unable to adequately deal with all of the toxins that are circulating in my body, including the ABX that I am taking. After seeing my LLMD earlier this week, I am now giving myself injections of glutatione (2cc) and MB12 (1cc) three times a week. I had the first injection two days ago and my eczema -- which was still quite visible the day of the injection -- has pretty much disappeared.

I know that glutatione has been discussed a lot on this board. However, just to summarize, it is considered the 'master' antioxident in the body and is absolutely essential in order for the body to detox properly.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to absorb in oral form and apparently needs to be taken as an IV or injection to be effective.

In any event, in addition to yeast it is possible that you are having a problem detoxing, which in turn might be causing the skin issue.

thanks for all the responses.

you know what randibear, i just googled shingles and you're right, it does look a lot like that.

but my symptoms don't seem to resemble shingles. hmmm..

Posted by randibear (Member # 11290) on :

shingles can actually cause a lot of symptoms and it can travel to your throat, lungs, and other organs including liver.

look up that terrasil cream and see if it might help.

so my LLMD had no clue what caused this or what to do about it, and a dermatologist was clueless as well.
