My bart herxes were very emotional. I was angry one second and crying the next. I felt like it was making my nerves raw - almost as if I could have a seizure. I have never had a seizure and have no idea what that would feel like, but my nerves would just suddenly feel like I had been jolted.

The physical part of it was pain in my shins, insomnia, headache and hot flashes.

I still herx but not like before.

I don't believe it cycles - at least if it does it is not clear like lyme. I think the 28 day lyme cycle is related to it's reproduction time but bart multiplies much faster which is why you relapse in days instead of weeks.

My bart herxes were very emotional too, angry, crying, agitated. I also had fatigue, headaches, swollen feeling throat, just feeling yuck. Oh, and the foot pain was worse during those times too.

The first 3+ weeks of treatment were rough, then got gradually better.

The result (still on the trip) is worth going through.

Detox helps a lot!

I think bart reproduces (?) every 8 days or so. If I remember correctly, lyme is every 3 weeks, bart is weekly and babs is every 5 days.

These are all general, I'm sure.

It depends on the type of bartonella you have, how long it cycles. Other strands may take about seven days, b.quintana is known for 5 day flares, which is what I have. When you start treatment the flares tend to be all over the place but then they gradually become more predictable.

angry and crying and emotional, paranoid, hopeless.......then fine the next day

slight fever

headache in the front of the head and in the back of the head

worsening of all my neuro symptoms (twitching, tremors, etc)

Glad this was posted. I am doing Byron Whites A-Bart herbal protocol.Got to 3 drops in morn & 2 at night.Herxs became way to much, so ramped down to 1X1. I thought it was the A-Bart,but seeing others experiences really helps. Joyce

Definitely emotional and lots of anxiety.

Does anyone have specifics on each strain of bart?

Our daughter always seems to have an increase in anxiety when treating for Bart.

She has not been able to get past one month of treatment on the last two antibiotics due to side effects/ allergies.

When does the anxiety lessen? Her anxiety has been high on antibiotics. Does it seem to decrease or is it there the whole entire time on treatment?

Her anxiety did not seem to be as bad on the Rifampin.

Wishing for healthier days for all.

doom, death.

Nothing worse.

Most difficult, and perhaps one of the most, if not, the most emotionally scarring event in my life. I had PTSD therapy (EMDR), and those events were the ones that came up primarily.

No, I never made it through. Still have it, afraid to treat it.

I got much better with treatment, thank goodness because I couldn't live like that forever!

The thought is just too scary. You just have to push through the herx. I used levaquin first which gave me tremendous emotional swings but brought improvement in weeks. Unfortanately I got tendonitis after five weeks and had to quit using it.

8 months later Rifampin and I just felt miserable and out of it for three months without experiencing any gains. So I quit that and tried Bactrim DS with biaxin. I am MUCH better but no well.
