OK, I don't know what's going on with me. I recently tested positive on an IgM test for Mycoplasma Pneumonia. I'm using an albuterol inhaler as my lungs are apparently rattling a bit. My glands under my left cheek were very swollen. Lymphs too. I had a bad earache in my left ear and very red. Even had pain on my back left side of head.

I had to got to the dentist because I was getting a jolting electric shock feeling in a tooth and major sensitivity to cold. Oddly in two days, this is 50% better. They found no major issues except for sensitivity along a gum line. Originally the dentist thought my old root canal two teeth over went bad and got infected based on x-ray info. I was sent to an enodontist that afternoon and he said no way and my presentation is not that of a abcess of infected tooth.

All that aside, I'm breaking out in cold sores on my lip and getting acne around my lips/chin on the left side only. I never get these and have no infections that cause these. Even my tongue has a few bumps on it and the dentist said they may biopsy one if it's there a week later.

it's kind of scary to break out in cold sores like this. My inner lip has a major white spot. My outer lips have a few.

What on earth is happening? Anything I can do to stop it? I'm on Biaxin right now. I am also taking OLE, Vit D, probiotics, L-Theanine, Magnesium Chloride, B-Complex, and a few other supps.

This sucks. [Frown] The big reason is because whatever I have seems to be getting continuously passed to my family members. My wife got very ill a month ago and is starting to have a sore throat and chills and feeling bad. My daughter again has a ear infection and sore throat. We were all majorly ill 3-4 weeks ago. is this some superbug?

Have you tried any coconut oil. Just a pinch to start and ramp up?

It works great on the sores.

To get rid of cold sores, buy some lysine. It is in the vitamin section of many, many stores, including grocery stores.

Take 2 as soon as you buy them. Then, take 2-3 more that day. Next day and following, take 3 spaced throughout the day.

Lysine (L-lysine) will make the herpes virus go back into its non-active form, lying dormant in your spine.

The things that make herpes come out are an excess of argenine (like in nuts, chocolate, and other foods high in argenine), stress, sun, etc.

Lysine is needed to balance out argenine. Then, the sores go away. So, don't eat nuts or chocolate while trying to get rid of the cold sores. If you do, you are working against yourself.

The reason all the stores carry lysine is because when the genital herpes virus was spreading like wildfire, people found out that lysine would get rid of the sores.

So, it is a very popular item with those with herpes.

We always keep some on hand for the cold sores. As soon as you feel a cold sore coming on, if you take lysine, it will stop the sore from coming out.

But, once you have let the sores come out, it will take a lot longer to get the virus back into its dormant state. Still, the lysine helps with the pain right away. It will keep new sores from coming, and it will heal the sores you now have, but it takes some time.

Regarding dental problems, I would not have any dentist do anything to my teeth right now if I were you. Lyme can cause all kinds of dental pain. However, it is the lyme, not the need for any dental work, that is causing the trouble.

I had 2 needless root canals before I knew I had lyme. I had so many different dental and facial pains. It is all lyme.

Everything is stirred up right now because you are going after these diseases with new treatment. Also, aren't you doing some detox right now? That can cause the acne.

To really help you, we need to know everything you are taking right now and when you started each of them. But, seems to me you are taking a lot of new stuff.

Seek -- is this your first ever experience with cold sores? Meaning, have you had prior break out with cold sores on your mouth area? (either prior to your lyme dx or after).

I find it very interesting that you would have a break out now...I am wondering if you have an underlying herpes infection that has never been dealt with??? Again, stab in the dark.

I have delt with these my whole life and since my lyme crash I haven't had one for 2 yrs. I got my first one 2 weeks ago and to me that tells me that my immune system is turned on.

If they are cold sores, my bet is that they would improve by using a Lysine supplement.

I had these cracks on the corners of my mouth....Lysine didn't help, so I figured it wasn't herpes related (cold sores are herpes virus). I think a round of Diflucan cleared the cracks up for me, so I think my issue was fungal....I am only mentioning that to show that sometimes you don't know what it is until you figure out what clears it.

So I would start with 1,000 mg's of Lysine, 2-3 times a day....see if that helps. Good luck!

If that helps, at least you know you aren't dealing with a superbug?

Agree with TF about L-lysine, I am taking 3 grams/day every day. I used to only get occasional cold sores and little fatigue etc, with Lyme and Cos
and certain meds eg flagyl and bactrim the HSV became more active. Taking lysine really helped.
Also early in my Lyme tx eg 1 yr ago I had trouble with staph/strep skin bacterial overgrowth, I used general overall Hibiclens rinses in the shower and Bactroban ointment on each little sore 3X/day till sores were gone. Also had to learn to keep hands away from face and especially anywhere near the nose- this is where many of us carry the germs without knowing it, we touch there and then infect ourselves any where else we touch.

I had vicious cold sores on & off for years, they would break out on my face, very painful! They have subsided a lot since I changed to a healthier diet about 8 years ago. Now I only occasionally get one on my upper lip, if I've been very stressed or if I'm getting sick. It's like my little warning signal.

L-Lysine definitely helps. Some people need to take it every day. I used to wait until I sensed the first tingle of a breakout, then start the lysine. It worked better, I think, to take a lower dose every day, then increase it when an outbreak was starting. (Now I no longer take lysine as the outbreaks have finally subsided.)

Rotating your foods helps--there's a list somewhere of high-argenine foods, vs high lysine foods. One summer we were pigging out on sweet corn every day and eating stir-fry with rice--I got a breakout and realized rice and corn are both low in lysine...since then I'm careful to vary my diet and not overdo the argenine foods several days in a row.

Get a very strong SPF lip cream, like skiers use, and keep that vulnerable area protected every time you go out in the sun. This makes a big difference! Just an hour in the sun used to cause me an outbreak.

For an active sore, I found a Lysine ointment with zinc oxide in it that seemed to help more than anything else. I got it at the healthfood store, called "Quantum Super Lysine Plus cream". It's in a little tube. Other companies likely make a lysine/zinc ointment as well. Or, you could just try some zinc oxide by itself for some relief.

I know I read there's some sort of zinc connection to cold sores, but I've forgotten what it is exactly, sorry.

You've received some good advice here (lysine is my friend!).....I just want to add that aloe gel (fresh, applied from the plant) takes away the pain of herpes cold sores. The bottled gel helps, too, but fresh is best.

I completely agree with TF about the l-lysine, the cold sore info and the dental advice.
