I've just been diagnosed with LD, and have an appt. in Oct with an LLMD. Haven't started treatment yet.
I'm curious who out there have had bouts of symptoms over the course of their disease?
I've had lots of bouts of things, but then over time seem to have tapered off. For example, I suffered from anxiety for 4 years, but it seems to be tapering off. I suffered from frequent UTI's for 6 or 7 years, but suddenly I've gone a year without one. I've had bouts of hives that last months at a time, and then they're gone. Arthritis that painfully flares up days/weeks at a time and then goes. Swollen/tender glands that flare up for days/weeks then gone. I suffered from IBS for years, now under control. Fibromyalgia, TMJ, Headaches for 10 years, haven't ever gone a day without suffering from these sypmtoms!
Do bouts happen with Lyme or do you think these are unconnected symptoms?
I had two EM rashes last year, and flu symptoms which finally brought Lyme up to my dr. I fought to get tested by Igenex, and came back positive this year...Which makes me wonder have I had LD all along, or did I just contract it last summer?
Right now I don't feel that sick. I can function normally, work, exercise, but always am suffering from some symptom here and there. Is treatment going to make me sicker and miserable?
Anyone else out there like this?

I would definitely believe you've had Lyme all along. Definitely. It happened to me. I was finally dxd after 42 yrs of symptoms such as yours, including an IBS dx, migraines, Fibromyalgia and Interstitial Cystitis... common with Lyme disease.

Yes, years of relapsing and remitting symptoms. Common with lyme. Eventually they came and did not remit. Eventually I felt sick all over everyday all day.
Most feel worse before feeling better but not everyone.

Your also going to find out everything you've gone through is very, very common with lyme.

Our LLMD in MO is booked up until then! I'm on a waitlist for any openings before October, and I don't know who else to go see...I'm glad I'm not unbearably sick right now or anything!

Lyme replicates in cycles so some weeks you have symptoms and other weeks you dont

I think the coming and going and moving around of symptoms is a major characteristic of Lyme.

Count me in. Mine came and went as well. Never suspected lyme. It was when my what i thought were FM sx kicked into hyperdrive and i was bedridden frequently (it hopped around) that i went looking for support. A person who is absolutely dedicated to spreading awareness (imho) caught me on another board and posted links and info. Thus began my search for knowledge. I am forever grateful to her and will always credit her for my finding the TRUE CAUSE of my problems. Youre definitely not alone!

I went through years of minor exacerbations before becoming obviously ill with neurological involvement.
And even after my nervous system was affected, I experienced a month of total remission.
It was only after a round of oral steroids, Rx-ed while I was still undiagnosed, that I went from having breaks to being constantly ill.
Everyone seems to experience treatment differently, I'd focus now on getting to the doc to discuss your case first.
