Just saw my llmd recently again. Did 6 weeks of doxy. I am now stopping that and going on to amox for a couple of months and supposed to start zythromax in a month on top of the amox. Anyone been through this regimen? I did have some improvement on the doxy which the doc said was encouraging and now we need to shoot with a different canon so to speak.

Don't forget to include a cyst buster like flagyl, without that you are sending the bacteria into hiding into the cell walls.

Crap the doc didn't say anything about that. Now how would one call up and ask for that without makin the doc uptight I wonder

My doctor treated me for many months before he added a cyst buster. Sometimes it's good to beat the infection down a bit first.

You can ask at your next appt, but go with what your doctor says. People on the message board throw out ideas, but it's just based on our experiences rather than the wider based experience of your doctor. [Smile]

When will you see him again?? You could ask for it next time you see him. It's not an emergency... just something to do in the next month or two.

Have you been checked for coinfections?

I see the doc again in 2 months. I was tested for coinfections but the lab used isn't the greatest so I'm told. The doc ran them through this paticular lab just because my insurance would pay for it but said it did not suprise him that results were non reactive.

The most recent lyme only test was sent to igenex which showed positive. Not over the top blazing positive but positive none the less.

The doc is certain in his mind that I have active lyme and bart infections and suspects one of the others whos name escapes my right now. I am thinking erlichia but could be mistaken on that.

You can always add grapefruit seed extract into your regimen. It's a natural cyst buster and immune system booster. It can cause a herx reaction, so start out low and slow and see how you handle it.

How bad can the herx get from this?

Posted by lululymemom (Member # 26405) on :

It's not bad if you start with 1 capsule per day.. Everyone seems to herx differently, so if you have specific symptoms that come up, you may feel an increase of those symptoms or some new ones.. but it should only be temporary. Usually it shows that the medication is working.
