So I have been treating for over a year, and had a pretty good summer. Even when I had symptoms, my energy was good. I added a bunch of Cowden herbs, and was tolerating them well until 10 days ago, when I got very sick again. Weakness, burning in back, and extreme anxiety. Is this a relapse? I am taking Malarone and was taking Enula for Babs as well as Ceftin and herbs for Lyme. I have just started graduate school & am afraid I will have to withdraw: am I likely to get as sick (basically housebound) as I was last summer?

I agree that it's a herx, you may have even burst some cysts forms and now have to deal with that, too. What are you taking?

Sounds like a herx to me too. Can you back off of them a bit until you recover?

Hate to be the wet blanket here, but I think it is a relapse. I am having one too and it seems to coincide with the approach of winter. I have read fall is the worst time for relapsing.

Last year I was on herbs only when the relapse started. I upped the herbs significantly and others posted it was probably a herx so I just kept plugging along until by October I was a complete mess.

Yeast? Are you taking a good probiotic and prophylactic for candida? Could also be the stress of starting school has brought your immune system down a bit.

Also, sometimes I find that other infections come to fore.

Hope you get it figured out.

Scary situation psr. Can you make an appt with your LLMD to discuss your symptoms? They can help you determine herx vs relapse. If it is a relapse, you don't want to ignore the symptoms. Just continue treating. Don't give up on your graduate school goals. You can make it [Smile]

It is possible Bartonella is stretching its legs.

You might need to switch it up by adding bactrim or mino and rifampin. Talk to your doc about it.
