I'm getting tested through Igenex next week and have heard that it's good to get a massage the day before the blood is drawn to make the bacteria come out of hiding. Supposedly it makes the results more accurate.

I was wondering if anybody has done this and if you recommend it

thanks

I think it's a good idea. It may not help but it can't hurt, I'd think.

Kimmie,

be sure to drink LOTS of water for a full 24 hours after a massage.

yes my llmd recommends this before getting a western blot !

his explanation is that it helps move the ketes out of the muscles ,ligaments, and collogen tissues into the blood stream where they will be more able to get picked up in a blood draw !

my llmd is the same one as tutu's and we think hes one of the best !

Does it have to be a professional massage, or can hubby do it? Can't really afford a professional one right now, and I have had nothing but bad experiences with the professionals anyway.

My best friend is a shiatsu massage practitioner--a type of massage that works on acupuncture lines of the body.

I asked her about your question, and she said she suspects that what you have been told is probably very accurate. A professional massage, she said, would likely offer the best results.

I have had regular massages throughout my treatment. In the beginning, they did not always make me feel better immediately, but they seemed to do a lot of good in the long run.

I understand the issue of cost. Is there anything you could barter for massage services? I was able to write in trade.

Hope this helps!

Andie

hubby should be able to do it as long as he hits all the larger muscle groups thats where the bugs like to hide.

have him hit the thighs and calf muscles too mine were always inflamed prior to starting treatment .

understand about the money thing , you can do as I do have the therapist write you a receipt , then ask your llmd to give you a prescription for the massages and see if your insurance will reimburse you for them.

if they wont then you can write them off on your income tax as un reimbursed medical expenses and save all your suppliments receipts too if your llmd prescribes them add that total to your med expenses !

What would be the best timing for the massage?, right before the test?, the day before?
