Daughter seems to be herxing from Diflucan.

She began with one tab 150mg and then two days later another 150mg, yeast not cleared so LLMD gave us 100mg twice a day for fourteen days.

Due to her symptoms which I am assuming are from Die off, we did 50mg twice a day for couple of days and then 50mg once a day, yesterday she took 100mg once.

Today, she is extremely fatigued, headache, feels hot but no fever, stomach ache, feels jittery. Feels very nervous.

Anyone else have these symptoms from Diflucan? I know that die off can be tough , she did have some brain herx symptoms over a week ago and that seem to get better. The die off has been tough.

I wonder if it is a Lyme herx?

Read that Diflucan can cause liver damage so I am concerned.

My daughter did not have any obvious herxing from Diflucan. It was part of the mix of meds when she improved, but I am not sure what role it played.

She did take 100 mg daily for a few months though without problems.

Diflucan has activity against lyme. There is a protocol, forgot what it is called, but you take diflucan and then switch to a penicillin drug. I believe the diflucan drives the cysts out and the penicillin then kills it. . . . anyway, that may be why she is feeling something but you should check side effects to see if it could be something else.

The protocol is Schardt. My daughter has seen the most results from this. She is on 200mg diflucan for 50 days then switches to penicillin 500mg for a month then back to the diflucan. If she is "yeasty" she restarts the diflucan. She never herxed from it. Only made her feel better.

150mg every other day is not a large dose. But everyone is different so it could have very well caused a herx. Has she started anything new or had any surgical procedures that could have caused a herx?

You can protect her liver by giving her milk thistle. Talk to the LLMD about it.

And like nefferdun said diflucan itself has activity against lyme in addition to killing the candida. So it's a double whammy.

Remember too that candida can cause a lot of nasty symptoms. It's good to clear it up. Good luck...I hope she feels better soon.

I have experienced major herx reactions from Diflucan. It certainly is possible that she is feeling so lousy because of the die-off of yeast.

Thanks for all the input.

Dr. called back and said to stop the Diflucan, feels she is herxing.

I was not home to take the call and did not say what else to do.

So I am thinking of trying Olive leaf extract capsules and see if that may help.

Also she just started few weeks ago Therelac and also takes another good refrigerated Probiotic.
