I've taken it before...but it's been a few years. Right now I'm on 250mg. injection daily. I am SO tired! No weird herx yet, just very very tired. Does it affect anyone else this way?

I was on IV Rocephin for 9 or 10 weeks. It made me feel pretty ill, but still functional. Very morose, tired and depressed. Don't know how much of a difference it made. after the IV, I was taking Suprax and Zithro for a while, and then switched Dr's, now taking a new COMBO that has made me Herx really bad, which is supposed to be a positive sign. I think the Rocephin could be helpful. I think it may have helped me better if I had taken a cyst buster along wiht it. See if your doctor will give you one in combo with the Rocephin. I didnt have strong herxes either with Rocephin, I just felt generally lousy....

joyful,
I'm on Day 17 of the generic rocephin 2g and just today felt a burst of energy and a bit clear headed. I havent felt this good in quite some time.

At first I had a slight h/a, tired and a few bouts of severe aggitation but it seems to have passed.

The biggest perk for me beside the clear thinking is the bm department. It has been the only abx that has helped my horrid constipation.

Lord willing things will only get better and better.

I was only on it for four weeks- very tired. BUT it caused gallbladder issues (chronic inflamation and stones). I just had my gallbladder removed- much better now though.

I've been on it for about 5 months. I was also dxd with ALS so it is the best drug for now. My arms are very weak and my shoulders have atrophied but I've had amazing progress in other areas.

After years of the following problems, all of them are GONE after using rocephin:
Grave's Disease,
Sleep Apnea,
Chest pains,
Plantar facitis

I hope my shoulders will improve in time. There's a chance I have a pinched nerve in my neck so maybe that's causing the paralysis. I have hope that it isn't ALS!

Maradona - She may be on that low of a dose for a reason. When I started on Rocephin I had to start at 50mg a day, and even that made me herx pretty bad at the beginning. It's taken me a long time to work up to 2 gm a day. It all depends on the person. I would very much agree for the need to be on a cyst buster at the same time, but again the dose would depend on what she could tolerate. It's definately not a one size fits all, and could even cause a worsening of the situation if she were to push too hard, IMHO.

The first time hubby did IV Rocephin back in 2003 -- his first lyme med after 2 years of being undiagnosed -- I had to stop almost every single dose 1 or 2 times to give him IV Ativan for seizure-like spells.

We also started with 50 mg but I ramped it up fairly quickly -- it took 3 months to do the normal 60 mg (standard 2 month dose) as I only did IV's 6 days per week. He was on no other meds at that time -- back then cyst busters were unheard of.

His symptoms improved maybe 25% back then but he started losing ground within a week of stopping the rocephin.

Defintely agree it is not one size fits all. Tindamax was what put hubby in the hospital this time. Had also happened the last time he tried it 9 months prior to this attempt. But with the rocephin on board he has been able to work up to 250 mg 3 times per day over the last couple of months.

He was put back on rocephin after his most recent hospitalization in early July. This time he either gets headaches or dizziness from the med plus feels really tired. But he is also on tindamax, coartem, factive and just added IV Zithromax this week after finishing the coartem.

The rocephin has pretty much stopped his parkinsonian tremors and other movement disorder issues. And he is sleping thru the night without having his nightly waking up spells with tremors and dry heaves. Has cut his seizure med dose in half and will soon stop that per her neuro instructions.

So far hubby has not really herxed -- but he has never really had a classic herx in his entire 10 year illnes.

I am on rocephin. Just moved up the dose to 4gm 4 days in a row each week, along with pulsing either flagyl or tindamax and IV zith. I feel like I am making progress.

Rocephin alone put me back to 100% within a few weeks. I was asymptomatic and thought I was cured. It was wonderful...but adding in the cyst busters really showed me that Bb was hiding. Rocephin you really need a cyst buster with at some point.
