I have a large bump on my abdomen, and a lot of little bumps under my skin on my abdomen, around the bottom of my rib cage, and at least one on my back.
Two doctors looked at my large bump and said it's a lipoma (benign fatty tumor, which I had never heard of until 2 days ago). Probably some or all of the little bumps are lipomas, too. Previously I thought, because of its location, that the large bump was a swollen spleen, but thankfully it is not. I'm also glad to know it is benign.
Both doctors told me not to worry about it and I didn't need to do anything. One said I could have surgery to cut them out if I want.
My symptoms changed a couple months ago, and these all appeared about the same time. I can't help thinking it is being caused by something to do with my illness. I never had them before, and nobody in my family ever has. I don't believe they just happen for no reason, without something causing them. They seem to be fairly common in people with Lyme or "fibromyalgia."
I would like to know if anybody knows a way to shrink these without surgery, and if anybody has any idea of how they are caused. I would like to figure out how to prevent new ones from forming.
This is causing me some mental distress right now (over my appearance, my options, and what health issue could be facilitating it), and I feel kind of blindsided because I never heard of it before or saw it coming. Most Lyme symptoms, I already know about and would not be surprised like this if they happened. Any relevant experiences anyone has to share will be welcome.

Just a lipoma no worry's. Had one removed last year right at the doctors office. Mine was rather large about the size of an egg. Just above belt line lower back.
It had embedded into the muscle tissue, so the doctor (general surgeon) had a little more difficult time to remove.
I had waited too long to have it removed and it grew larger. It was benign as most lipoma's are.
I would suggest that you have it removed before it enlarges and makes things more difficult.
Some lipomas return but mine has't so far.

And I assume your surgery did not make Lyme worse.

Lymphnodes are what catches the toxins making you sick. They are a sign of illness.
The reason your symptoms changed along with the lymph nodes is because your body is fighting an infection. Your sypmtoms, i'm going to assume got worse, because you're sick. You shouldn't be worried, it just means your actively fighting an infection. They may even be quite painful in the future.

Essential fatty acids can stop the lipomas from progressing, and may help them to clear up.
I found that information on Dr. Walt Stoll's site.
