Hi, my twin sister has Lyme and has been suffering from a lot of chest congestion. It's been going on for some time now.

What might be causing this, and what can she do about it? Thanks for any replies.

- Lymelady

PS - She is CDC positive for Lyme, but has not been diagnosed with any of the co-infections.

Thanks, Jane. I have a feeling my sister has co-infections. She is trying to fight Lyme without antibiotics. I think she is just getting worse.

I am going to write her an e-mail right now.

I have congestion in my throat lately at night. I'm attributing it to Bartonella but I'm not ruling out CPN (Clamydia Pneumonia)

I have CPN and asthma. I have lots of chest congestion.

1. I like half a lemon in regular water (not cold) first thing in the morning. Do not take if on thyroid medications, citrus makes the medication not work as well.)

2. I also like max doses of guifenesin with a sudafed and lots of water. The sudafed and water flush out what the guifenesin grabs. If you don't drink a lot of water and get it all flushed out, you will get headaches.

3. Another thing that helped me with all kinds of congestion was diflucan! My sinus infections that turned to bronchitis was actually fungual not, bacterial, so the diflucan has helped me not get anymore sinus infections!!

Good luck!

Look into a salt inhaler for asthma and congestion.

This is salt crystals in a tube.
You inhale air that flows through the salt, picking up salt ions.
This reduces inflammation in the lungs and kills bacteria.

Cisca Saltpipe

This vendor is in U.K., so shipping time is two weeks.
You can look at eBay for "salt inhaler" to find vendors in the U.S.

.

Something else to think of is that lung congestion can be caused by blood backing up in the lungs, due to the heart not being able to pump as strongly.

This is called heart failure.
Your doctor would need to evaluate you for this.

People who have this may have a wet cough, edema in legs, and not be able to sleep lying down flat.
Propping up on several pillows feels better, as it reduces the congestion in lungs.

Take CoEnzyme Q10 to strengthen the heart.
Statin drugs taken to reduce cholesterol deplete the CoQ10 in the muscles and the heart, resulting in muscle pain and weakness and angina.
