ya'll know i have been hospitalized twice with diverticulitis and have had c. diff.

i really think i need to start aggressive treatment for lyme again.

now i have a ton, and i mean ton, of biaxin but that's it. have some flagyl but not much.

have plenty of buhner protocol, bottles and bottles...like 3-4 each.

to tell the truth i'm scared of abx but do you think i could start buhner?

i mean it wouldn't hurt would it?

my symptoms are coming back -- itching eyes, facial numbness, tingling and burning feet, total body itching, stiffness, memory problems, you know all the big stuff.

Up the probiotics. Herbs probably would be ok. Flagyl and vancomycin are good lyme and cdiff drugs. Bicillin may be ok as it bypasses the gut

I'm in the same boat. Recurring C. Diff...

We've got the flagyl option, of course.

Oral vancomycin stays in the gut, so it's not effective systemically for Lyme - although IV vanco's a different story.

If you opt to go back on abx, take your probiotics religiously, your florastor... and watch your digestive system like a hawk.

Even with all that said... I'm looking into other options for if/when it's necessary. Not sure I'll find any but we'll see.

Going back on abx is a gamble.

Be careful with your gut. C. Diff really changes things.

I drink alot of Kefir, the enzymes regulate the gut and stop the burning sensation on my skin.

The itching sounds like yeast to me.

Kimmie mentioned Bicillin (shots) but you mentioned Biaxin....so don't confuse the two. Only the bicillin would bypass the gut.

However, I'm pretty sure it would still cause yeast issues. Shouldn't affect c.diff though.

Didn't you have trouble taking the herbs before?

randibear~
I have taken antibiotics since having an 11 month bout of C. diff and I did fine (I took doxycycline).

However, why don't you make sure you aren't battling viruses too, as they don't need antibiotics to treat and that will give your gut a longer time to recuperate before starting antibiotics.

Best, Timaca

Kefir mixed with probiotics has helped the GI stuff a lot

well ya know i keep saying c. diff. they tested numerous times and it always came back negative, but i'm positive that's what it was.

i had all the symptoms -- mucous in stools, going 15 times or more a day, watery brown diahhrea, cramps, fever, lots of abdominal pain, even some nausea and vomiting.

when i took flagyl it cleared up.

my doc never did say c. diff cause of the testing.

i know i've got bart and the diverticulitis so i've got to be careful.

buhner's herbs did upset my stomach. hmmm, can herbs cause c. diff?

I was going to suggest bart because of the burning in your feet etc but you say in your second post that you know you have it.

Herbs are not very effective against bart but if you use "an extremely large dose " (quote Dr. S) of HH2 capsules, cumanda or clove but oil, it might get you by for awhile. Some of Dr. S patients are taking 20-25 capsules of HH (10 of HH2) but you have to build up to this amount slowly.

Most of the herbs in buhner's book are better for lyme such as andrographis and cat's claw. But Resveratrol (Japanese knotweed) might help. You should also take a 1000mg-1800 mg of N acetyl cysteine and lumbrokinase (not sure of amount) for the bio film. Magnesium is depleted so don't forget that and vitamin B12.

To help memory and mental clarity try 1000mg acetyl L Carnitine and coconut oil Huperzine is also supposed to help.

Alpha lipoic acid is a powerful antioxidant that is often sold with ALCAR.

By the way there was/is a virus going around that causes really bad diarrhea. I had it two weeks ago and thought I was having a reaction to a new drug.
