i know light sensitivity is a symptom of lyme, but does it mean your eyes actually hurt from bright light (sun/computer/etc) or you just feel worse in the light (brain foggy/tired) ??

i finally realized that i feel almost drowsy in the light.

As with a lot of things with this disease, I think it can mean different things to different people.

For me, I noticed that in some lighting I just had trouble focusing; it's hard to describe, but I just had trouble adjusting my eyes to certain light conditions.

I also had the issue of when I'd have light coming in from the side, I couldn't focus on what was in front of me. I had to put up my hand to block the light coming in from the side.

If you "feel almost drowsy in the light." Change the light source. It's obviously draining to you.

Real light from the sun is best - just not necessary direct light. Better to look out of a window than at a computer or TV.

Fluorescent lights can be very hard for us, too. Best to use regular light bulbs but they will not be for sale for much longer so you better buy a bunch.

Lyme affect the eyes, the brain and the ears (and anything that affects the ears also affects our eyes). Inflammation and irritation changes everything about our sensory systems.

Lyme can really clobber the entire ear system (vestibular system). So, take a look at the vestibular symptoms and that explains a lot:

I have been able to stop all my Lyme eye symptoms by drinking mangosteen juice, an anti-inflammatory antioxidant juice. Within 24 hours of starting it, all eye symptoms were gone, including light sensitivity!

There are lots of brands in healthfood stores and online. I drink the Ultra mangosteen juice from Trace Minerals with 72 minerals added.

If you try it, go slowly and drink a lot of water too. Remember, we are all different when it comes to our responses to treatments. This works for some of us.
