It started out with a little blood everytime my dressing was changed (2x a week). It seemed to increase each time, now there is a lot of blood, I bleed through my bandage everytime.

The doctor said he's never had anyone bleed as much as me in 20 years. I was tested to see if I had a clotting issue, everything came out fine. I haven't responded to any lyme treatment and wondering if there's just something I'm missing leading to my intense dizziness and altered mental state. Any thoughts?

Sometimes supplements like garlic can thin the blood or if you take aspirin. I have a family member who had this issue after blood draws.. Ended up it was the garlic she was consuming daily.

Are you taking a large amount of Omega 3 fatty acid supplements? I have had a Picc line for 8 months and when I doubled my dose of Omega 3s (from 1g to 2g/day) it increased the bleeding from my picc line site. Once I dropped the dose, the bleeding went down.

Another thing I have found it if my nurse that changes the dressing lets the picc "wander" when she changes the stat lock, and she reattaches the stat lock in a slightly different place, it pulls my "hole" bigger and I bleed more. We have learned that my picc is happy in just one place and if we keep it there, it doesn't bleed.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Using that arm can cause bleeding too. I found out that I could not expect to do all the usual things with that arm, unlike the previous PICC which did not bleed at all. Don't know what the difference was but it stopped when that arm did not lift or stretch out, used as little as possible.

I don't use my arm at all, in fact I just sleep all day. I also do not take any supplements or anything like that really.
