what else could cause a false postive on a Bartonella test??

Also what do bartonella headaches feel like. I am having pain at my temples as well as stiffness in jaw and in my eyes. My eyes are so incredible dry as well.

The only thing I know anything about is the headaches. I get them right above my eyes. And they are killer, through pain meds.

I don't know what causes a false positive on a Bart test...are there things?

Never heard of anything causing false positives.

tricia,

Your symptoms certainly sound like Bart to me.

What do you mean with your question about testing?

That you tested positive but you don't really think you have it?

Or do you mean a false negative, meaning you keep testing negative for Bart but your symptoms lead you to think you do have it?

Just trying to clarify...

Trisha- I was curious about what your question meant too... so I did a search on your recent posts and found this:

"I am so new to all of this. I just got dxed on thursday with Bartonella. And they believe lyme but they want me to take an Igenix test."

So you have a positive Bartonella test... and you think it's wrong? I don't think there is a such thing a s a false positive... unless you used somebody else's blood!

I am sorry you are not feeling good. At least you know what you have.

Yes, I was wondering if anything could cause a false postive on teh Bart test?

Also, this all started after I got my gardasil vaccine, at first they thought I had heavy metal posioning. Could a vaccine trigger a dromant lyme/bart?

Boy, everyone needs to read that quote!!!

That would be an important topic for discussion!

Tricia, I believe you can have Bart w/ symptoms but not really feel sick.

It's when you add lyme into the mix that you get sick.

I don't know about your vaccine question though. I know when you're sick w/ lyme, a vaccine can make you feel sicker.

Any vaccine will ramp up your immune system temporarily. Bart is a stealth infection, and may go undetected by the immune system.

Possibly by ramping up the immune system it noticed the Bart?

I would think it would be unlikely to produce a false positive, but who knows for sure. It would be unprecedented.

I personally would not recommend this vaccine, but at least look at both sides of the issue before getting it.

Vaccines can have tons of mercury in them. I would do research on chlorella, cilantro with chlorella, activated charcoal... bezonite clay...

Do something proactive to get the mercury that is active out of your body... research heavy metal, mercury detoxing.

If you tested positive for bartonella, I would say you have bartonella... not a false positive.

In my opinion, almost anything can trigger a new symptom. In my case:

going on Lipitor caused restless legs syndrome

going on Lyrica caused my hands to stiffen alost overnite

going on immipramine caused Raynaud's phenomenon

getting the flu shot gave me headaches, crappy feeling for a few days.

With Bart I have had dry eyes.

Also I had nuerolyme for 2 years that I knew of
before Bartonella symptoms came raging to the forground.

It is possible that they were mingled in with th lyme and overshadowed by the more dominant lyme symptoms

but definitely new strong symptoms of Bart came raging to surface about 2 1/2 years in.

I did not know this until recently...that it was Bartonella.
Classic presentation of symptoms.

some fo them are easy to not notice or at leat not to think they are part of a disease you have...tiny red bumps and "scratch marks", hurty bumps on your scalp.

Spider veins here and there...
anxiety and depression...

Who knew?
Search bartonella symptoms on here and you may discover you have more than you realize.

I have only been treated for it for five months and have had a big reduction in symptoms.

On the vaccine question, consider this ... I read that Dr. K thinks up to 80% of kids with autism have lyme. Many many parents of autistic kids think there is a link between autism and vaccines (and there is research on this too). Obviously, you don't have autism, but it just makes me wonder if vaccines are often the triggering factor for dormant lyme & co. This is just me thinking -- so take it for what it's worth.
