huh, i read that a virus from pigs may be a cause... Never ate or touched a pig... this article is ful of "may" so i'm not learning anything from it... CFS and AIDS may be caused by climate change then....

This article was originally published in 1993... before the discovery of XMRV. The chapter on a possible virus from pigs was just a part of the article. There alot of other information in the article that may be of interest to people.

It's kind of amazing that some of research was pointing to an AIDS-like virus or retrovirus back in 1993 as a cause of CFS. There is alot of overlap between CFS & Lyme with many people. It's good to understand the history of these illnesses.

I just thought it may be of interest to some people who have been ill for a long time & haven't gotten well. Take it or leave it.

Thanks for posting this Sparkle7.

Those of you who are interested in the "Cure Unknown" of CFS, take a look at Osler's Web. It is a sweeping account of the history of CFS starting from the incline village outbreak and discusses the work of Elaine DeFreitas who discovered a retrovirus in CFS patients. In many ways, the finding of XMRV is a redemption of sorts for Elaine's work, which was basically besmirched by the CDC.

Thanks m0joey...

I've been reading here about many people not doing well with the standard Lyme protocol. Maybe they have XMRV along with Lyme or just XMRV.

With the state of testing in Lyme - we really don't know. Many of the symptoms overlap. Many have been diagnosed with CFS or Fibro - so, it would make sense that it's somehing that we may be missing.
