Maybe a sip. I don't think it's a good idea to try for a full glass. Who is really going to stop with just one - or wait another whole year for one more glass? Most people will hear that as it's okay to drink.

Spirochetes don't take off for New Year's Eve.

Now, it may be that you are near remission. But, just one glass of champagne can cause a bit set back for weeks. One glass can cause a serious hangover for most lyme patients. It could be fine but there seems to be no way to know until afterward.

FWIW, champagne seems especially harsh regarding the after effects. A light white wine - just a dash in cranberry or pomegranate juice might be your one glass option for the least harm.

Thanks Keebler and Lymemom! I have some Pellegrino, maybe I will have 1/2 shot of Champagne in that !!! I haven't had a glass of wine since July. I am not a big drinker.

Keebler, very astute. My dad owns a night club. Statistically, if someone orders one drink, they have a 50% chance of ordering a second. Then after that second drink, the statistic is even higher they'll order a third, which is why bars will have two for one at happy hour.

I was very disciplined. I had a sip. I felt fine and feel good today too, the only thing that screwed me up is staying up too late. I slept until 9 which is very late for me.

I have been treating lyme for 2 years. With not much improvement I must say, and so about 3 months ago, I had one beer, then one beer again last night (at home). Both times when I had that one beer, my face and ears lit up red and felt very hot and feverish, truthfully like they were going to burst into flames, I mean hot!!

Also, I get yeast right after even one beer, so for me, no more. Luckily, I don't really care if I drink or not because I will definitely not do that again for a long time!! [Smile]

fflutterby,

I'm so glad wisdom held you in good steed last night. It's so nice to start off the new year in the best shape possible. But, I also was up way too late. The late night hours are just so seductive, deceptively so.

Hey, if you want to feel more relaxed: Milk Oat Seed tincture, magnesuim

If you want a bit of a mood lift: magnesium, gotu kola

Music, flavor in healthful foods and in drinks (lemon or lime juice, stevia, water, crushed ice), etc. It's very possible to enjoy all sorts of flavor in healthful ways - we need that.

There are many ways to lift or soften our mood - in safe ways.

Just being able to BE around others - to be able to go out or have others over - is a wonderful lift. Being present and involved in conversations, interested in others' experiences and tales - well, all that is a connection that brings its own high.

Get your inner circle of friends and family to all learn how to safely trade neck/shoulder massages (avoid the spine) - I'd rather see that in a bar than a someone who's had too much to drink because they are lonely inside - or just under too much stress.

I swear that if that kind of touching were to be more common - just in casual setting (but of course only with those you choose who have the proper attitude about it) . . . well, I just think we'd all be happier. It may not relieve all stress but good touch and good times can go a long way in lowering the stress hormones.

Ive been sober for one year and two months now... Was a very heavy drinker but not going to risk it while on meds and getting better really quick...

I would say as long as you are not on Flagyl a glass of wine or champaigne would be fine.

I can drink lightly with no problem. Had glass of white wine plus a few sips of baileys last night. No problem. What does that mean?

I didn't even drink the sparkling grape juice that was offered to me last night. Too much sugar!

I had 1/2 glass of champaign last year, (it was free where we went out to eat), and I was fine. This year I drank Ginger Ale!!! I don't seem to have an issue with sugar.

Not me. Consequences just aren't worth it to me.
