hmm, i'm getting desperate to feel better ya'll.

i am taking a ton of probiotics and florastor but now i've got diverticulitis and am back on flagyll and biaxin. cross your fingers...

to save money i'm taking meds i have had for a couple of months.

so how long are meds good for?
i have enough flagyl for two weeks but i've got enough biaxin for probably a year, maybe longer.

is it still ok??

To be safe, check the bottles for expiration dates. If you cannot find an expiration date you can call the pharmacy where you had them filled and ask if they are still safe to use.

Some meds lose their potency and some meds become toxic, that's why you want to be careful.

My PCP told me that Flagyl was good for 6 months after the expiration date. Not so sure about this, it seemed a heck of alot weaker than the new script I just filled.
The expiration date of the medication is almost always listed on the bottle.

Many pharmacies put arbitrary expiration dates on all the rx's, like a year after the fill date. A few actually give you the date on the bottle the meds came from.

I'm sure its easier on them this way. I also believe they put sooner dates on meds that do not last a whole year.

Hi,I use doxy for diverticulitis.

There was an army test that found that antibiotics only loose about 3 percent a year in strength.
