Has anyone experienced neuropathy with bartonella? What helped?

I haven't but the supplements Alpha Lipoic Acid and Acetyl L Carnitine are recommended for diabetic neuropathy so I imagine they would help neuropathy in lyme etc.

You can buy them together in one capsule from vitacost. 600mg alpha lipoic acid and 1000mg of acetyl l carnitine. The alpha lipoic acid is also a powerful antioxidant and helps detox the liver and kidneys.

The acetyl l carnitine also improves memory and stamina.

I have neuropathy, and Bartonella is actually the only infection I tested positive for. I am taking Doxy, and I hoped with treatment it would improve. Not much help, anyone else?

I have very bad Bartonella, still positive despite long treatment with Levaquin, then Rifampin (and developed tendon problems with Levaquin and vision problems from Rifampin). I've been on Doxy five times. My last hope seems to be herbs, unless I can tolerate Septra/Bactrim which I may be allergic to so it's risky for me.

I had no success with Alpha lipoic acid or N-Acetyl Cysteine which are supposed to help neuropathy. Couldn't tolerate Neurontin. I have the combo of alpha lipoic acid and L-Carnitine so I may try that again.

I've tried a lot of topical things but that hasn't helped, but some people have had relief from B-12 injections. Again, I've tried, but haven't gotten relief. But neuropathy is one of my worst symptoms so I'm probably dealing with a lot of inflammation/irritation.

The nerves are supposedly very slow to recover from any type of injury or condition, so I'm still searching!

I developed small fiber neuropathy from Bartonella and Lyme. It was diagnosed by a punch skin biopsy. It was really bad. I now get IVIG for it.
